| 455 | Scott | Munsey | US | This is one of the great movies of all time; it ranks with Giant, Lawrence of Arabia, 1900, etc.
It's also a more substantial film than The Sound of Music, and of historical importance both to the setting and the time it was made. Finally, it's Steve McQueen's greatest performance, hands down.
It is one of the great 70mm road show pictures and deserves to be restored to it's full glory. |

| 457 | Mark | Hunt | US | |
| 458 | Dennis | Johnson | US | This is one of the best stories ever produced as a film. Too bad it has not been given the recognition it deserves. |

| 462 | Al | Alessandra | US | Not only is this film Steve McQueen's best, but this is one of the best films ever. Modern day films can not compare to the quality of film-making exhibited in the "Sand Pebbles." The fine art of film-making has been lost since the 50's, 60's, and early 70's...ie., Ben-Hur, On the Waterfront, Gone With the Wind, etc, etc. Films like the "Sand Pebbles" relay real life experiences, and masterfully projected to the audience by such greats as McQueen. These life experiences are transcended into reality, experiences that anyone can relate too. Noteworthy, for instance, are the on-scene locations, excellent screen play, a wonderful musical score, along with great acting. The full version should be restored to maintain it's integrity as compared to the original book. A great film like the "Sand Pebbles" should be restored to preserve our film heritage for years to come. |
| 463 | Randall | Vincent | US | This film is one of the greatest films of all time |

| 465 | Michael | Penver | GB | If any film deserves to be restored to its full running time this one does. |
| 466 | Alicia | Orozco | US | |

| 468 | Bruce | Vincent | AU | This film deserves to be restored to it's correct length. |

| 470 | Mark | Schmeling | US | Do the right thing, restore this film to its roadshow brilliance. |
| 471 | Bill | Peterson | AU | My most favourite movie of all time! |
| 472 | Timothy | Woyma | US | |
| 473 | Philip | Young | US | I would love to have a DVD of the movie as it originally was made. I was stationed in Taiwan in 1970 and watched it when I was there. Must have watched it 20 or more times since then. They don't make flicks like this one anymore. |

| 476 | Franklin | Himes, PhD | US | Robert Wise is one of the world's greatest artists. His life was given over to editing The Sand Pebbles right up to the day before its premier. To not present this film as Mr. Wise had so painstakingly worked it out, is an insult to his genius; a slight to all those artists who suffered through the Taiwan location and an insult to filmgoers. 20th Century Fox should be ashamed for not having restored this historic film before now. If they come to their senses, I know I will be among the first in line to buy a copy. |

| 479 | William | Feuquay | US | WHAT CAN I SAY ITS ONE OF MY TOP FIVE FAVORITE MOVIES OF AL TIME |
| 480 | James | Fraser-Paige | US | This is among my favorite films, from a book that was a favorite of both my father -- who spent time in China in the period of the film -- and I. Restoration of the film to the original length as envisioned by the director would be a great service to the film and to its myriad of fans. |
| 481 | Glenn | Ross | US | I support restoration of
"The Sand Pebbles". There will never be any more films of this caliber produced, so we must keep the ones we have in pristine condition for future filmgoers. This film would still turn a profit today if released in theaters on a first run basis. |
| 482 | Albert | Sommer | GB | Please, please restore this great motion picture. I've long considered it to be the greatest film i ever saw. It would be a great injustice to deny us fans the opportunity to view this film in it's true glory. |
| 483 | Ron | Ellison | US | |
| 484 | Lance | Lambdin | US | Please distribute this movie again. It is truly a classic.
Thank you. |
| 485 | Gary | Witthans | US | I agree with my brother Bill Witthans that this movie is a true classic and should be completly 100% restored to original and I would also add it to my collection of the greats! |

| 487 | Les | Parry | GB | I was at the UK premiere in 1966. Waht a powerful film. I have been hoping that Fox would restore the film to its original director's version with the added 14 minutes. Surely this year is the year, to commemorate the 40the anniversary |

| 496 | Robert | Costello | US | This is not only a great film, but contains Steve McQueen's greatest performance. It is also contains one of the finest film scores of any motion picture, and is perhaps the masterpiece of director Robert Wise. This major cinematic achievement can stand as a tribute to 20th Century-Fox's committment of restoring audio and visual work that are the best of America. |
| 497 | Robert | Boone | | This work is a timeless classic. It should be preserved in it's fullest glory. Please restore it and include the omitted sceens. |
| 498 | Marco | Meneghetti | IT | |
| 499 | Sandy | Wells | US | |
| 500 | Ed | Connelly | US | THE SAND PEBBLES was a terrific motion picture. If you're going to restore it for home DVD then a few minutes of screen time means nothing! Resore everything you've got! |
