Anonymous | I have looked at that ugly plant for years. Hoping they would shut down and stop the pollution. But they never did anything to stop that plant. If there is EVER anything I can do, let me know.

Nicole Rand | I firmly believe the plant killed my husband. He was a non-smoker with no cancer history in his family. He died of lung cancer. We could see the plant from our house in Marblehead. He lived in the house for over 20 years. The cause of his cancer remains "undetermined. . .possibly enviormental".

Daniel Johansson | I oppose shutting down the plant. The benefits from having cheap power far outweigh the negatives. You people should do some homework before you impose your punitive propaganda on the rest of us.

Anonymous | We moved to Salem four years ago and love the city. I believe that Salem could profit immensely from the closing of the power plant. It just does not make sense and I am very concerned about the health risks.
Anonymous | I took a picture of the sun this morning filtering through the grey black smoke of the power plant - definitely not clean combustion - if you want a picture I can send it your way

Anonymous | I lived within the shadows of the plant for many years. My house, cars, and plants were covered in black soot constantly. Its time to close the plant for good and let the citcizens of salem and surrounding towns breath fresh air.

Amanda Smith | As a resident of downtown Salem I would want nothing more than the coal burning plant on Salem harbor to be closed. Granted, it may bring in revenue for the city of Salem, I believe the the building of a waterfront shopping and dining center would chance the face of Salem. It would not only make the city more beautiful, clean, and generally healthier; but it would bring lasting revenue for years to come. It would make Salem a more desirable place to live and revive the city as a whole.
