PETITION TO SUPPORT LLMD’S
· We, the undersigned, support the courageous, compassionate, Lyme-literate physicians around the country who diagnose Lyme disease accurately, and treat effectively.
· We are outraged over the years of attacks against Lyme-literate doctors, and demand that these baseless prosecutions cease.
· We are Lyme patients, parents of Lyme patients, and others who support the patients, many of whom have debilitating chronic Lyme, due to the lack of early diagnosis and/or lack of comprehensive treatment.
· We demand better access to competent medical care for those chronically ill with tick-borne disease.
· We demand that health insurance plans allow patients to choose the more comprehensive, effective, ILADS guidelines for their care, and to extend their coverage to those doctors who practice using these guidelines.
· We are aware that many doctors around the country who understand the serious nature of this disease will not treat chronic Lyme, due to their fear of losing their licenses to practice medicine. We are aware that this problem leads many patients to leave the state and travel great distances to obtain competent medical care.
· We demand that our doctors be protected from malicious prosecution, so that more doctors will come to the aid of those chronically and seriously ill.
· We ask that the hardship due to lack of access to competent medical care be removed from Lyme patients and their families. |
