Michael Sheehan | Please do not destroy this vibrant and viable airfield. It is an amenity for all those who currently use it. Upon what grounds are their rightsand interests being subjugated to the whim of the planners? A compromise is possible. Do the decent thing!

Julia Jane Ottley | Please don't divide the airfield with a road, or ruin the site for future enjoyment with events also, respect the the memorial element which a road would ruin.

David Fisher | This important airfield should remain untouched!
mr k mayhew | why is it that these people always say how important it is to remember those who fought and died for our freedom, and then when it comes to money have little or no respect for them and others who devote thier time and own money to preserve this land and building.

T J Beetlestone | If the road is to go ahead then use the alternative route
Mr T J Mills |
Russell Manning | Please do not disturb the peace and tranquility of this Historic Airfield,by creating this proposed road. Not only is this road a danger to the public who use or visit the Airfield. It is also a Gross insult.
Mr &Mrs D Crysell | The air field and memrial must be left alone.we go to severeal shows and class this one as our local show, and equillay as good as its larger counter parts shows
Graham Gosling | I object to the effect this route will have on this historic Control Tower and that it wiil significantly hamper operation of the airfield. In turn, I believe tis will reduce not enhance the attraction of Bury St. Edmunds as a location. I am sure the Council are able to find a more appropriate route.
Robert Stephens |
Bob Bunton | Another example of erosion of our heritage and the destructive force of commerce on easy targets.
David williams |
Chris Smithers | The proposed short and cheap route will be long on environmental and heritage damage. Must we always bow down to the interests of the road lobby?
Ian Proctor | One of our only local airfields that boasts regular events and a yearly Airshow. It also has much history which should not be threatened.
Mr V Kempt |
Paul Seymour | The proposed route so close to the tower and across so much virgin land is callous act of selfish rural vandalism. At the very least every consideration should be given to alternatives and a public meeting called to thrash out the pros and cons in an open environment. The local community owes a lot to the efforts of the Tower Association over the past 10 to 15 years and to John Agnew who have helped not only preserve a memorial but deliver a new family fun day venue. Long may it remain undisturbed by shortsighted planners.

Chris Lee-McCloud | A considerable amount of time, effort and dedication has been involved in Rougham's development into a open air venue and a commemorative site recognising the sacrifices of the last war. Serious consideration should be given to alternative routes for this road.
Jim Johnston |
jackie Young | This site gives pleasure to many and is a reminder of the many people who died during the 2nd world war defending the freedom we enjoy today
kevin aldous |
diane ruddock |
Adrian Hales | This industrial area is just swallowing up the area, enough is enough.

Ken Chambers | As an Ex Member of the Royal Air Force, with memories of WW2, I agree with Mk K Mayhew.... why is it that these people always say how important it is to remember those who fought and died for our freedom, and then when it comes to money have little or no respect for them and others who devote thier time and own money to preserve this land and building.
gail mclaughlin |
Alastair Cuninghame | No! No! No! Roads, cars and business cannot be allowed to take precedence over such an important cultural, historical and entertainment site. Put the road somewhere else, even if it does cost a few more pennies.
Anonymous | No doubt the road is required - but needs to be realigned to retain the reasonable use of the Tower, Memorial and airfield.
Giles Mcgarry |
Tim Watson | This is very sad.
sue bishop |
Paul Alger |
Mick Wood | Could this be a precursor to reclassify as building land ??
peter norvall | disgusting situation and only greed on behalf of one of the wealthiest councils in the country, who expect and virtually demand help and cooperation in all that they do when it comes to functions that they do. pity they dont consider the historic values of a worthy airfield based in their district.
paul barnsdale |
Derek Blackman | Road next month, houses next year ????
mark gentry | we have already lost far too much of our aviation history, we must call a halt and try to preserve whats left before it is too late, ands its all buried under concreteand tarmac.
R Loveday |
Anonymous | History is not bunk and we should honour the brave servicemen who died for all our freedom by preserving Rougham. It is a resource that is still used by lots of people and to spoil just for a road to posh houses that most people cant afford is criminal.
Sarah Godkin | No road at Rougham!
D.J.Cox & M.A.Cox | We are appalled at the proposal of the course of the proposed new road through Rougham airfield. Such a developement would amount to a 'thin end of a wedge' and the loss of a valuable facility for Bury St Edmunds.
Stuart Watson |
derek lupton | This is a valuable and leong established resource that should not be treated in this way. Councils must show respect for all citizens.
