Ten years ago, the Sprite Step Off premiered on MTV! It’s been 9 years since the Sprite Step Off II, and now, we want to reboot the stepping competition. As the largest step show competition in history, it was nominated for a National Association for Multi-Ethnicity In Communications (NAMIC) Vision Award in 2011. YET, it’s been TEN years since we’ve seen a collective of college students strive to represent their chapters and Greek-lettered organizations and respective chapters to compete for more than $1.5 MILLION dollars in scholarship funding along with community service hours...

Greek-life students from all colleges and universities corrected social stereotypes by showing how and why college students have the potential and initiative to commit to service and scholarship, simultaneously. In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation, students assisted children in showing them why college is and always will be possible and attainable while completing dedicated community service initiatives, grueling step practices with educational obligations…WHILE STILL competing the championship prize!

It is more than a call-to-action. This is an effort to showcase #GreekLife as athletic, motivational and beneficial membership.

The Sprite Step Off partnered with collegiate Greek-Lettered organizations to give clarity and re-branded the image of the modern college student. Both competitions exposed the nation to the art form of stepping, while showing how the influence of a supportive organization and the power of community service in college.

“Sprite Step Off gives university pupils an outlet to showcase innovative self-expression by means of the artwork of step although endorsing the significance of bigger schooling and currently being active,” claimed Augusto Elias, Sprite Brand Name director, Coca-Cola North, United States. “Sprite sees stepping as a automobile to empower this ground breaking generation to spark their inventiveness and clean pondering whilst providing again to the community.”

Stepping can, and often does encompass, skill, creativity and/or talent with no preference given to ethnicity. It can be done by anyone. It’s the channeling of passion or any powerful emotion one can siphon into a routine. During 2009 and 2010, the Sprite Step Off, launched through Sprite, by its parent company Coca-Cola created an inspiring partnership with national Greek councils. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)’s representation, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Tau Chapter and the National Panhellenic Council (NPC)’s representation, Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity’s Epsilon Chapter would go on to share the co-title and the grand prize.

We need the support from all organizations and members to bring this show back! We are using social media to create viral grassroot campaigns and communicating with vendors of Greek-apparel and national offices to reconsider becoming involved with the Sprite Step Off again.

Membership is a privilege, community service is a requirement, but wearing your letters, strolling, stepping and fellowship is a respect.
