AnonymousI urge Sefton Council and Southport town Councillors in particular to take notice of this petition and to take advantage of the experience and opinions available from the town's skatepark users. 30 years after skateboarding came to Southport NOW is the time to finally give it credit and support it as fully as possible as recognised part of today's culture.

Simon ThorleySouthport used to have a fine concrete skatepark, it should have again, support the sport, support the youth, provide Southport with the quality facility it so desperately needs, the place seems to be going backwards..invest in the youth of your town!

paul lewisSkateboarding is not a fad and will not "go away", introducing an anti-skateboarding by-law will only serve to marginalise further a significant element of the youth in Southport - stoking up problems for the future. Provide them with good quality facilities, invest in their well-being and enjoyment and you will see the benefits.

Dom TattonWe are due to start work here in Whitstable on a concrete park on 13 March after 20 years of on/off petitioning. This is creating a very positive ' vibe ' amongst the young people in this town, please build the young people of your area something that will enable them to progress to their fullest potential, in concrete.
Trev WellsThe whole of the UK is starting to realise that skateboarding is not a fad, and that decent facilities are required, to provide safe progress of this for all ages and levels of skateboarders.

David MartinHaving recently help complete the Dartford Skatepark please think about Concrete as a cheap to maintain and safe fast grippy surface. Thank you
Andrew ElliottGreat idea to ban skating in the town and yet not provide any funds for ensuring the marginalised minority have somewhere safe to skate.

Patrick CaseyI am from liverpool but still used to be a regular at the skate park since it first opened but due to the condition of the ramps described above i choose not to go anymore as it is not worth the effort of travellin like it once was!
EM FinnTo the relevant people within Sefton Council: I hope there are sufficient numbers amongst you with the openness of mind and vision to see that an amenity such as this is not only an investment in Southport's youth, but *done properly* (ie, a skatepark suitable for hosting competitive events) could also provide a boost to the town's tourism industry.

sam PatersonALWAYS get the skaters involved - don't pay overinflated prices for prefab consstruction made by people who don't understand what is good and what is not. You have the opportunity to get it right first time - don't waste it.

caitlini feel the skatepark users should be provided with a safe place to skate and ride. i have seen to many of my friends hurt , harrassed and told off for doing what the love to do! thanks x
Gamestation RobThe skate park is an eye-sore and haven to those without an agenda, or more specifically those without any agenda besides to cause grief. Build an indoor one with some sort of supervision and/or dedicated maintenance team. That way maybe finally the people who the park was originally created for will feel comfortable using it, without making them a target for anti-social yobs. This could only be a positive thing for the town, as it would not only reduce the number of skaters in the town centre (thus appeasing the elderly who seem to relish in getting in their way and then complaining to the likes of the Champion and Visiter that town is infested by "wheeled yobs"), but could also be a distinctive feature in the 'New Look' Southport that Sefton Council is creating. That's my two cents.
Kayleigh GoldieI agree with this, kids need somewhere to go.

Susan JonesI love watching the young people having fun.Southport skate park is in drastic need. It needs lighting and cctv as well as being extended. My grandchildren and I really do like watching them.

Martyn. If your going to make it illegal to skate around the town, you have a duty to provide a skate park for the kids.
Marc SimpsonI write to express my full support for the above proposal. Marc Simpson - Newport Shropshire.
