There is no mention of dark or 'excessive' make-up, nor duct tape jewelry in the handbook or dress codes of Stillwater Junior High School. A majority of the students feel the administrators are denying certain others their rights, and believe that we should be allowed to wear whatever type, color, amount, design, etc. of make-up we desire, as well as duct tape jewelry. It is because of this seriously unfair abuse of power on the part of the administrators that I have taken it upon myself to create this petition in protest of said 'rules' against make-up and duct tape.
The arguments I have compiled go as follows:
- There is no mentioning of make-up or duct tape in the dress codes.
- There were no complaints about make-up nor duct tape being a distraction by any students whatsoever.
- Other students who violate actual dress codes aren't punished as readily as those who wear unconventional eye make-up and duct tape jewelry.
- The administrators fail to give logical reasons other than 'because I said so,' to students who ask why they must throw away their duct tape bracelets or wash off their make-up, and who will otherwise face detention and possibly suspension.
- No attention was called to the make-up by the students wearing it, nor the students in class with said individuals.
It is because of the above reasons many students at Stillwater Junior High School would like to pass a petition stating students may wear whatever cosmetic (not including face paint) make-up or jewelry (not including large chains) they desire. |

There are several individuals who are in support of this movement to defend creativity and freedom in the school system. Many of them are adults, many of them are students at the Junior High. |
