Honorable Senators and Representatives:
We the undersigned petition you to defeat all provisions of Senate Bill 191 and House Bill 400 that require government entities to grant conditional or permitted use for surface mining within zoned areas. This legislation is unnecessary; mining is already permitted within appropriately zoned areas of the counties and townships.
This proposed legislation is incongruent with the ideals of zoning as adopted by the electorate. This legislation will subject the residents to:
Noise from mining and truck exhaust brakes
Truck traffic
Blowing sand
Loss of wells
Damaged roads
Diminished property values
Counties and townships will be left with the burden of repairing roads. This will also result in a diminished tax base due to devaluation of property and the removal of land suitable for homes and business.
Again we implore you to say no to this special interest group and reaffirm the zoning regulations adopted by the electorate. Thank you in advance for your considerations. |
