56 BridgetPlease save this nursery, Harry and hundreds of children like him need our help and support!
57 karen mcnultyInclusion does nt just happen. It is facilitated by putting in the resorses early to help special children succeed in mainstream education. The government is saying on one hand that early intervention is the key but by its action the council is going against this. Its a big mistake.

73 AnonymousThe decision to close Headstart nursery cannot be justified. It cannot be right to hinder the development of these children who need our help most.
74 Lesley & Tony PriceWe all know that early intervention has the best results. If this nursery closes down the early intervention will not happen.

78 AnonymousMY GRANDSON OLIVER DORMAN ATTENDS HEADSTART. OLIVER HAS GLOBAL LEARNING DELAY ,AND ONE OF HIS PROBLEMS IS THAT HE CAN'T TALK .THROUGH GOING TO HEADSTART HE HAS LEARNED MAKATON SIGNING .THIS HIS IS ONLY WAY OF COMMUNICATION AND WOULD NOT HAVE HAVE HAD THE BENEFIT OF LEARNING THIS HAD HE NOT ATTENDED HEADSTART.OLIVER IS JUST 4YEARS OLD AND WILL BE STARTING MAINSTREAM SCHOOLING IN SEPTEMBER 2007 .THE PLAN FOR OLIVER WAS TO INTRODUCE HIM INTO HIS CHOSEN SCHOOL GRADUALLY AS IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO THROW HIM IN AT THE DEEP END HAVING ONLY BEING USED TO A SMALL NUMBER OF CHILDREN RATIO TEACHERS,ALL OF WHICH UNDERSTAND HIS SPECIAL NEEDS.NOW BECAUSE OF THE CLOSURE OF HEADSTART OLIVER WILL BE IN A CLASS OF CHILDREN FOR 5HOURS A DAY 5 DAYS A WEEK THAT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THAT HE CANNOT SPEAK AND HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF SIGNING.HEADSTART HAS PROVIDED OLIVER WITH THE BEST POSSIBLE START FOR HIS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS .THE STAFF THERE ARE MARVELOUS AND IT IS AN ABSOLUTE OUTCRY THAT THIS MUCH NEEDED NURSERY IS CLOSING.PLEASE RETHINK YOUR DECISION THERE THERE ARE SO MANY MORE OLIVERS OUT THERE THAT NEEDS THE SPECIALIST STAFF THAT HEADSTART IS PROVIDING.

84 dee thomasto the LEA..... overturn this ludicrous, short sighted decision before special needs children lose much needed speciallist provision which is vital to their future education.
85 Stephen Hitam
86 Sam k. DengIt would be unjust and a tragic flaw; please consider....
87 Tina FullickEarly intervention is vital for children with any type of learning difficulty.
88 Lee Smith1 of my friends has a child that attends this nursery and I think from what she and others have said about the nursery that it helps young children alot and teaches them for school
89 MRS J SHERSBYIn no way should this Nursery be closed ,as it plays a vital role in the early learning curiculum of very vulnerable children.
90 susan mcphersonThere is no excuse for this at all.
91 AnonymousThese children need every opportunity currently available to them, to take them away would be a crime!

96 kelly headMy son has asd and is due to start infant school in september, but was supposed to remain at headstart for two days a week until easter. By closing headstart the council are NOT covering for him to get the help at school that he will need as the school will only take him 3 mornings a week which will mean he will get further behind othe "NORMAL" children!!! Save Headstart to give all children with special needs a better start in life!
