Ireland\'s Call was commissioned in 1995 by the Irish Rugby Football Union in a laudable attempt to provide an anthem which would represent ALL the people on the island of Ireland, and its All Ireland representative rugby teams. However, Ireland\'s Call is not a good enough song to be an Irish anthem, and pales in comparision to the many outstanding anthems such as \"La Marseillaise\", \"Land of My Fathers\" and \"Il Canto degli Italiani \" While we are fully supportive of the principle of an All Ireland anthem, we call upon the IRFU to replace Ireland\'s Call with an anthem that is not only representative of all the people on the island of Ireland but that it would be a song which would befit the proud musical heritage of this island and would allow our anthem to stand proud and tall amongst the world\'s finest anthems. We suggest that the IRFU enlist the support of the Irish government and Northern Ireland Executive, to bring together the finest songwriters etc, to create a song worthy of support.
