KellyKobzaCAUSIf a trusted University such as Stanford does not keep promises made in exchange for permission to alter the face of the community, at some point the community will revolt!

Clifford JeffreyBramlettCAUSNo sidewalk. Stanford's current proposal is offensive and abusive of the good intentions of the original agreement. Contrary to their previous statment, a right-of-way does not constitute a "giving the land away".
KenNitzCAUSIts supposed to be a trail, not a sidewalk!
HenryVintonCAUSProposal seems ill conceived and out of the spirit of the GUP. The proposed routd has no recreational value to me.

KirstenFlynnCAUSPlease make Stanford live up to the conditions under which it was granted permission for tremendous growth. I live in Palo Alto, and live with Staford's Traffic jams when work or a special event starts or ends. They want to use our infrastructure for their growth, and not provide the mandated trail access. I think this is selfish and small minded of them.
SusanBarkanCAUSOne of many reasons that we need real trails on Stanford property is the popularity of the Dish "trail." It receives such heavy use, being the only one, that highly restrictive regulations and paving were deemed necessary to keep it open. People need nearby places to walk without inhaling gasoline fumes and watching cars whiz by.

BarbaraDawsonUSOur request to keep Stanford honest seems pretty straight forward and logical to me. So what's the problem?
Mozelleda Costa PintoCAI have grown up in a house whose backside borders Alpine road. My parents still live there and my children, husband and I frequently visit. While growing up,I spent ENDLESS hours hiking on the beautiful trails of our neighborhood hills. I have strong memories of these hikes. Now I do this with my two daughters and husband. We do not hike on Alpine road, we search out the hills! Stanford's proposal is ludicrous. It only damages the natural beauty of Alpine Road, weakens the quality of life for those who live there--the road and cars will be closer to residents' (ie. my parents') properties--devaluating the properties, creating more noise pollution for those residents, and taking out trees that are hundreds of years old. These trees help soften the effects of living along side Alpine road for my parents as well as other residents of the area. The trees also help create the ambiance and asthetic qualities of those neighborhoods that run along Stanford's proposed path. The intention of a nature walk is to walk in nature, not parallel an ever increasingly trafficked road. The path the community is proposing is not invasive on the open lands. A good part of the route is connecting already exsisting paths and roads. People will be able to appreciate the natural wildlife, scenic hillside views and get a sense of being outdoors in nature rather than walking next to exhaust and rushing cars. The path Stanford is proposing already exsists as a bike path. They are finding an easy way out of a situation--but not fulfilling their original commitment of offering further access to open space for the community. The Bay Area is loosing more and more open space...don't let this be one more sad step toward that reality. Help us to preserve and appreciate that which we have. The path the community is suggesting does just that! Thank you for your time and serious reflection on this precious issue.
MeganMatthewsCAUSDO NOT BUILD PATHWAY ALONG ALPINE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!
DougHeirichCAUSThe proposed "trail" offers a very unpleasant and high traffic experience. It is only a repaviing of an existing path on public right of way that is little used due to the obnoxious nature of it's environmant. This is not a "recreational" alternative in any sense of the word.
KatieBramlettCAWe need surfaces that do not destroy the existing habitat and happily wind around trees, not through them -- that's a trail -- that's what trails do! Thanks.
