They sell alot of albums in the states and especially worldwide where in other countries they are not brainwashed into Rap music and can appreciate skill and talent, they also make huge amounts of money off touring as they draw thousands of fans (See this last years Ozzfest numbers when they played, see Rock in Rio over 100,000 fans or see Monsters of Rock at Donnington Castle or any outdoor festival. They continue to put out records since 1978. How many albums has Run DMC or NWA or for that matter Public Enemy put out. Easy answer hardly any. I think Maiden has put out 15 or more albums. And if rock is dead then how come the highest grossing concerts around the world are rock shows, try Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd (highest grossing concert ever bye the way). I am not a big fan of these bands per se except Pink Floyd which are genious, but I respect them for that. So like I said rock and metal will never die and you can sign all the petitions you want just do it on a different site. And bye the way I am not a hater of all music except rock and metal, I like acoustic music (alot of Metal is also acoustic), Classical (which many of the bands I listen to draw from classical arrangements) see bands such as Dream Theater, Nevermore, Symphony X. I also like some Jazz and also more obscure stuff as well. Not all Metal Heads are piercing and tattos. I have many tattos however I am also educated and own a restaurant and am a Chef. I know how hard it is to make it in the music business. If you don't have the look or whatever then its tough. I am an experienced and pretty damn good guitar player and have tried out for some name bands looking for a player but coulnd't cut it. As far as some moron in here that said you could pick up a guitar and learn it in 20 minutes must be smoking crack as that is an insult. The reason it takes awhile to be good at playing any instrument is because you have to be able to read music first then there is notes, chords, Bars, riffs, and tying it all into a song with drums piano, bass, keybords and vocals. Again Satan is used by alot of Death and Black Metal Bands which I have no use for for the most part as bands I listen to have interesting lyrics whether it be real life or not. Cannibal Corpse does not worship Satan by the way. They sing about Gore and they are their to shock people but do not bring up Satan in their music, they are actually atheists bye the way. I cannot say that I am a big fan of cannibal corpse but I find them amusing from time to time and don't take them too seriously. You wanna know why NWA and Run DMC don't put out albums no more? Cause they are all retired, everyone from each group has moved on to solo careers, which I think they are doing completely well for themselves. Take a look at Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, look how much accomplishments they have made since parting ways with NWA, both went on to become major rap stars, both became actors, both have their own record label. Now tell me one rock band that has not only become a major rock star, but an accomplished actor and record producer as well? So far I see none, I mean if you think about it, if rockers are so big in the music biz, why don't they get acting roles, how come I don't know of any HASBEEN rocker that has his own record label? Now with that out of the way, let me quickly go back to the whole tours and festivals thing, how about award shows and dedications? BET has their annual Hip hop awards yearly, VH1 started a Hip hop honors show since 2004, MTV each year has their Hip hop week dedication, so if you want to talk about hip hop and its appreciation, there you go. And one last thing I just want to comment on is your whole "I don't care about Rap or Hip Hop as I will continue to say that it" jibber jabber. Like I mention in my last post, everyone has their own right to like whatever music they want, and they also have the right to not like another particular genre, however, ranting and raving about how much you don't like it to the public is supposed to do what for ya? If the Fugees and Wyclef jean and the Roots are such great musicians (and they do not bother me very much as they do incorporate instruments into their music), why are they never then represented in any instumental magazine such as Guitar World, Guitar One, bass player, drummer, even keyboard player. THey are not in there because while they can play they cannot be seriously taken as great players. I am not saying either that rock and metal musicians are the only great players of instuments as Jazz, Symphony, and classical music as well as blues and the such all have great musicians. Try and pick up a sheet of music out of Guitar World magazine and play it. You can't. It is a foreign language to you as you have to be able to read the music and notes first. Try playing the Frets and basic chords which take months to learn even that. I suggest that you check out Guitar World magazine especially the issue that comes with a DVD called the art of Playing/Shredding. . As far as rock or metal committing genocide I think you will have to worry about Rap committing genocide within their own community.
