| 1474 | Anonymous | Dear sir and madame:
I write this petition to strongly urge you to abandon the plan to develop Pier 40 and to take affirmative actions to preserve the Pier as residents' park and to return it to citizens' hands.
Pier 40 gives my friends and their kids a very rare space for bonding with their friends and families and opportunities to reenergize their lives, by using the space as their playground and meetup place... If it's transformed into a commercialized money making factory, then this would deprive my friends of their right enjoy and share their lives along with their friends and will negatively affect their life experience in the city. This deterioration of their living quality will not only lower their productivity, but also negatively affect the local economy by lowering the residential buildings' worth around the area.
Decision makers should relize the grave impact this would make on the local economy and its residents. I insist that you stop the development plan and listen to people's angry voices.
Thank you so much. |

| 1476 | Charles Gabriel | Pier 40 is a haven for team bilding, discipline, fitness and passion. It is as important to athletes in NYC as Central Park is to visitors world wide. |

| 1492 | Peter Kingswell | Hi,
I play twice weekly at Pier 40 and love it to bits. Playing on the roof would increase the affect of the wind and mean footballs being lost in the Hudson river.
It's the best outdoor soccer facility in the whole of Manhattan - please preserve Pier 40!

| 1500 | Blaise Frossard | NYC needs even more outdoor places where people can enjoy doing sport!! Why taking away the few that exists in Manhattan!!! Especially Pier 40...
I think that government in general (US in particular where obesity is at high level for young age kids!) are focusing more and more on health of its population. Therefore why doing something that goes against this trend!!! Think about all the people and kids that enjoy doing all kinds of sport at Pier 40, save Pier 40.... |
