| 551 | Anonymous | We need to counter the modern day trash otherwise music will die |
| 552 | James Munro | The UK has such a wealth of dedicated and professional jazz musicians who deserve all the opportunities they can get to entertain the widest possible audience. Radio 3's input is much appreciated, but the reach of Radio 2 is so much broader. |
| 553 | Karen White | excellent programme about the only one I listen to on Radio 2 |
| 554 | Steve Helm | The Best of Jazz has been part of my continuing education and enjoyment for the past 40 years. No other programme ranged across so wide a field of contemporary and historic jazz.. The programme must be resumed. |

| 561 | Scott Willcox | What about some TV jazz too! |
| 562 | david Harris | We need all types of music, |
| 563 | Mr Muyembe | |
| 564 | BRIAN UNDERDOWN | The BBC treatment of Classic Traditional Jazz is deplorable. A recent programme of so-called classic jazz was no more than a cocophony of some trendy's idea of jazz - nothing like the real thing. Howabout letting someone (like Digby Fairweather) who really knows what jazz is about handle the Monday night 'Best of Jazz' instead of the jumped up pop singer Jamie Cullen |
| 565 | Michael Rubie | |
| 566 | Barbara Sparling | No-one can deny his wealth of knowledge and depth of expertise (although I didn't always like what he broadcast), and I would call into question whether anyone can take on this role. However, if the programme is finally put to bed the myriad of jazz groups and functions will certainly suffer because there would be no-one to champion their survival. Please let it continue and put someone who knows what they are talking about into the slot - someone with a knowledge and love of the music from its roots through to the present day. We have lost our local radio presenter (Chris Walker) because of blinkered, gormless know-nothings who only look at ratings rather than quality and service. Please don't let it happen nationally. |
| 567 | Claire Davies | |
| 568 | Zane Cronje | I am a jazz pianist of note, and to get jazz understood, it is necessary to get people to LISTEN |
| 569 | barbara jay | The Best of Jazz programme is one that
Humphrey Lyttelton would have wanted to
continue. |
| 570 | John Ross | There are some excellent presenters that could do the job. |
| 571 | david pinchen | |
| 572 | Gill Cook | Please keep the Best of Jazz there is an audience for it. |
| 573 | Andrew Butcher | The BBC prides itself on broadcasting a wide spectrum of music on radio - jazz is already poorly represented, so this programme or alternative jazz based output is warranted, if not vital! |
| 574 | Dave Golding | Jazz in all it's forms should have a recognised central expose' to help create some healthy
musical dialogue, away from what is otherwise
offered to the public in the guise of 'music'.
........feature 'live' musicians actually playing from around the country's many venues....I/We could go on & on!!!..... Jazz is an interesting subject!! |
| 575 | Bill Dudman | Jazz is as important as many other musical genre which have been and are at the heart of BBC radio. |
| 576 | Angela Thomson | |
| 577 | bob williams | I have been listening to jazz since 1950's.listening to BBc even longer.I now live in Egypt and appreciate more than ever listening to many broadcasts from BBC.Jazz in all that period of time has been good to [and for] BBC. It's time BBC was good to Jazz |
| 578 | Eddy Hailwood | This is too important a programme to drop. |
| 579 | Phil Adams | |
| 580 | david nathan | I fully endorse the sentiments expressed above.
Please reconsider. |
| 581 | Stephen Riddle | There is not enough jazz on the radio as it is. |
| 582 | Mike Weston | It would be only reasonable to re-dress the balance of air time between pop/rock, classical and jazz on the BBC network, the latter having been the "poor relation" for too long. |
| 583 | P.Whetstone | |
| 584 | Eric Parkin | We cannot afford to loose any more jazz music from radio the only music you get on BBc now is all the same kind of pop |
| 585 | Margaret Charles | We love Jazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 586 | Billy Thompson | |
| 587 | Henry Lowther | |

| 597 | Marina Wood | |
| 598 | malcolm frazer | |
| 599 | Laura Bush |
| 600 | Ron Selby | Take a look through the Ken Colyer Trust Magazines and see how the children at their Jazz Workshops in the schools appreciate the music.
It is only dying out because of lack of exposure and that lack of exposure is directly the fault of the broadcasters both radio and television.
Surely we all pay for the BBC so we should all expect to receive something in return that we enjoy.
May I also suggest Mike Poynton as a suitable presenter. |
