| 302 | Leslie Farhangi | I have 4 horses, one of which is a former thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the lucky ones, sound enough to find another career as an event horse. Many many other TBs who are not famous are not so lucky. An industry that thrives on a fairly high death/injury rate to its horses is not something a civilized country can or should tolerate in this day and age. |

| 312 | chris ware | For way too long the racing industry has accepted horse injuries as the normal. They are not new research has revealed that most are preventable if the horses physiological limitations are acknowledged i.e. do not race them till they are mature as 5 year olds and allow they a more natural lifestyle when racing to reduce stress.
It is no longer acceptable to think of these horses as a "foal crop" where 90 percent will be damaged before they ever reach six years of age. I am disgusted by this treatment.

| 315 | Emily C. Whiteley | While the majesty of the thoroughbred cannot be denied, neither can the decrease in stamina and long-term soundness. We need to work together reduce race/training track deaths. If nothing is done, the future of racing seems doomed. I have been a fan for 30+ years, but no longer watch live racing due to the breakdowns |

| 317 | Linda Fiore | Racing "baby" horses (undeveloped) is like a five year old child playing football. Honor the horse not your greed, ego and chances at money and short lived fame. None of that is important when your own body breaks down, now is it?
Sincerely,
Linda Fiore

| 326 | mary moldowan | As a breder of horses for over 30 years, I must say that I believe that a major part of the problem with the racehorse, especially the Thoroughbred, is that selecive breeding has produced a heavily-muscled, barrel-chested horse supported and propelled on legs that are too fine and long for the weight they are asked to rocket down the track. Add to this that 2 year olds are raced before their bones have calcified completely and you have a disaster waiting to happen. |
| 327 | Sue Churchwell | The horse is the heart of racing. It's way past time to put their best interests first and stop treating them as disposable commodities. For every Eight Belles, there are countless others who suffer the same fate that never make the news.
Working "babies" to death needs to stop, and not just in the race world. Quality of life, not quantity, should be the focus of breeders and everyone else involved in the world of equine competitions. |

| 329 | Anonymous | Stop racing/training them as babies! Racing needs to offer higher purses at those races where the horses are older than 3.5 years. |
| 330 | Robert Ventura | It's sickening to see these horse die at the race track. Something must be done! |
