Aaron BittonPicket your FORD DEALER see how fast they take care of you> I would think so do you know what that would do to thier sales?
Frank J. Thompson36,899 miles and the rear passenger plug blows out. Ford is responsible. I have had the truck to the dealer every 3-4K for oil and tire rotations. Not a single word / offer to check the plugs' torque.
Scott SartorI have a 2000 Ford F-150 XLT. I have had the vehicle for one month. It just blew the 2nd spark plug in two weeks. I have been reading the thousands of threads on the web about problem. Why does a credible company like Ford ignore such an awlful problem?
AnonymousI have a 2000 excursion triton V10 and spark plug #4 blew out desroying the coil and leaving me with a real problem to fix. Motor sits behind so far behind firewall that it is nearly impossible to work on. I used lights and mirrors. This will be the last Ford I ever buy if Ford doesn't do something to reimburse me for my cost , labor, and down time. It was a poor design and they know it yet refuse to recall it. It is dangerous and will get someone killed. I will not stick my head under the hood for any reason while engine is running. Just think of the unlucky mechanic doing diagnostic test on a triton junk motor when a plug decides to let go and enter his forehead with great force. Ford you should be ashamed! Ripping off honest unsuspecting people. Just read these posts and realize the amount of injury you have already inflicted on the public.
Anonymous02 Excursion V-10. Blew one at 60,000, and now 2 more different ones within 1 week apart at 81,000. After 18+ years of owning Fords I'm off to buy my first Import. Merry Friggen Christmas FORD!!!!
Sherry CastilloPlease amend this petition - this is not vehicle specific but relates to certain engines in multiple cars and trucks!! My 2001 Mustang became a victim in August - if anyone can get a class action going on this please let me know!! Here's my response as I entered it on consumeraffairs.com: Sherry of Brandon MS (08/22/07) Add me as well to this ever-growing list of complaintants. Yesterday afternoon, minutes after dropping my son off, I heard the loud pop and went through the pain of driving a severely misfiring car 8 miles to my mechanic. I'd lost the #5 coil, spark plug, and head (the threading got completely stripped inside the head). Note that I had just done my 2001 Mustang GT's first tuneup last month, and now I'm wishing I hadn't. As of this moment, I'm still waiting on the decision on what to do, dreading hearing the cost of this. Once I get organized with all the research I've been trying to do on this matter, my next step will be to contact the Attorney General, State Senator, and as many news people as I can. There is responsibility on the part of the mechanic to make sure all specifications are met when doing work on a car, but Ford should also be held responsible for creating a situation that is completey ridiculous in the first place. Ford CEOs: I do hope your people crunched those numbers right, and that your attempt to cut costs really will outweigh the lawsuits. There's just too much going on in this world to simply give up on such a dangerous issue!
Shelly HobsonMy Expedition is currently in the shop for this same as above issue. It has been there for 4 weeks and they are having major problems fixing it. This is a bunch of bull. I have to totally be on foot and it is horable. Not only is it in the shop...the shop is 207 miles from my home.
emanuel stanciu2001 f-150, ejected spark plug
Adam ReynoldsMy 2002 Ford Escape just blew a spark plug. This incident particularly ticks me off because my wife, who is 7 1/2 months pregnant was driving the vehicle and was put in a very bad position with an almost undrivable car. This put her life in danger and caused undue stress on her. After seeing the literally thousands of complaints for the same issue across the country, I'll be getting a lawyer.
Anonymous'02 Lightning blew plug out at 30,000 miles. Ford knows there is an issue. .They came out with a new head in 2003 that has more threads. $33,000 truck !
Nick JanewayMy 2000 Expedition spit out a spark plug and has been sitting for almost a year now. I can't afford to drop $4000 on a repair!
Seth Scavette2002 Ford Excursion Triton V-10 Just blew its first plug that I know of. We just bought this car for christmas.
Anonymousi have a 2003 ford expedition and last night while on a family road trip one of my spark plugs blew out. I just recently took it to the shop about two weeks ago to get it repaired for plug number seven and now the plug nxt to it has blown out all within one month. i wish i had known about this problem before purchasing this vehicle. now i am concerned about returing home on an 8 hour road trip that i will have another blow out.
tina seiber1/1/07 just had the second plug to blow, what a way to bring in the new year ....thanks ford!!
Joseph PierceI just had to replace my 3rd spark plug blow-out last night in the freezing cold on my 99' Crown Vic. Unfortunately after the blowout I knew immediately what it was from past experience. I loved my car, but now I am afraid to drive it on long distances. I hope Ford does the right thing. No wonder why they are loosing ground and customers to the competition.

AnonymousI HAVE BEEN RUNNING FORD PICKUPS SINCE 72.MY 99, 5.4 HAS BLOWN 2 PLUGS,AND HAS A PROBLEM WITH SHUTTING DOWN,WHILE GOIING DOWN THE ROAD.THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX IT.I LIVE IN ALASKA I NEED A DEPENDABLE RIG ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER!!
Alex HobleyI own a 1998 Ford F-150 with the 4.6 liter Triton V-8 and it blew out the #5 spark plug but somehow didn't strip the threads so I put it back in and now its done it again on the same cylinder. It still threads in but now it won't stay tight. I'm not paying thousands of dollars to Ford to fix their own defect.Which is why I'm signing this petition. Sincerely, Alex Hobley
Dora and Charles DietzelI want Ford to repair my 2001 F-250 4x4 in which this has also happenned to us. Ford needs to take responsibility for thier defective cylinder heads. Cost is around 850, and it is rediculous that this defect has not been recalled.
Anonymous1999 f150 ford step up take care of your problem
Mike BI have an f150 and an excursion that I am now concerned with after reading all of this. I have 3 small children and if anything happens to them while driving either of these I will hunt these people down. This is a known problem and they are still not doing anything about it.
Rodney McGeeI have a '99 Expedition that blew the 3rd plug on 11-27-07 with 110K. Luckily my wife was warming up the truck when it happened and not driving. It is still in the shop so I don't know the financial damages yet, but it looks like it shouldn't be my financial burden as it has happened just a couple of other times.
AnonymousI know of several people that have had the same problem.
LYLE QUALLS SR.ON 1/12/2008 MY SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE PLUG. VEHICLE IS A FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY WITH A V-10 TRITON. POSSIBLY FIXED BY HELICOIL KIT AT A COST OF ALMOST $500.00. FORD DEALER STAtes due to NON FORD RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUGS.. BULL S---.
sean kellyI have 2004 f 150, just got towed yesterday to Ford dealer. They said # 2 cylinder making lots noise and wil not idle and no power, I AM SURE GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE

Michael V.W. CombeI have a 2002 F150 SVT with only 49,000 mi. on it. Yesterday I blew out #6 cylinder spark plug. Ford dealer says to replace the head because it is an SVT, cost is $3,700. I am a mechanic and I would not replace just 1 head on a vechicle with this milage due to possible driveabilty problems. So my bill for the Ford Dealer to do the work correctly would be $6,000. I currently own 5 Fords and I am not happy! Ford should take care of this problem for such a loyal customer.
john stratton2002 f150 thought the sound was from manifold but after reading all the same complaints online i know its the plug.now i am afraid to drive the thing.ford sucks
phillip renickerdrive a 2001 250 4x4 v10 blew out a spark pulg like every 1 else then 2 months later the motor blew up
ToddI own a 1998 F 150 4.6 that is misfiring and am too afraid to change my plugs after reading about blown out and broken sparkplugs when taking them out and leaving the base in the head. Something I've never feared in 34 years of working on my own vehicles. Thanks, Ford
max below2001 f250 5.4 #8 plug blowout. Father was Ford assembly worker 35 years. Ford has done nothing
AnonymousThis happened to me on my 2001 Expedition and it 's unfair to the consumer! If they don't back there vehicles the that is the last ford I buy!
shua78999 f250 blown #4 spark plug just another victim
Matt DanielsFord lost a customer today.
Lance GernegliaI own a 2000 Ford Excusion with the V-10 with 111,000 miles. On 1/18/08 driving home at 11:30 at night I heard a loud pop and noise. turns out #10 sparkplug ejected and took the threads with it.Local Ford dealer tries not to admit to the problem saying we've only seen this 4 times last year. I can tell they're lying through there teeth.repairs are approx.$1600.00 to remove head and fix if they can or buy new head.So my Excursion sits in the yard until I have enough money to buy an engine. My other vehicle is a 1998 Ford Expedition with 109,000 miles and now worried about that too.

Chris McClainHad the #3 blow out at 80k miles and now at 93k miles, it sounds like I may have another (the tell-tale ticking).
Kathy BrooksI have a 2001 Mustang GT and the number 3 sparkplug blew out on Xmas Day....What a Xmas present!!! I am a widow and dont know how I am going to repair my baby!!!......Ford needs to do something about this problem...I dont have thousands of dollars to fix it!!...I would appreciate any help anyone could give me on a low cost repair....Thanks

E-stillsI have a 2003 ford expedition and the #2 plug blew out and ford wouldn't warranty their work. I think that is ashame you pay that much for a truck and the plug blow out the engine.
Fritz Repich
Tom Fischer#3 blew out a few months ago on my 02 superduty and now #4 blew.
William Lewismy number 3 plug ejected from its port..The grim news is it will cost me 3500 dollars to repair with NO guarantee that it wont happen again.. After reading hundreds of similar incidents How can Ford still claim its NOT an issue they need to address ? It was bad enough that I couldnt park the truck in MY garage for fear it would spontaneously combust and burn down my house now I'm afraid to drive the truck because at somepoint the plugs will " eject " and leave me stranded... After 22 years of owning Ford trucks I have NO confidence left in Ford motor company and This will be the last Ford product I will ever purchase..
Eddie ZamoraI own a 2001 Ford F150 which i thought would last me for ever since i take good care of it, regular maintance and all, and now this, spark plug blow out, it's a darn shame you pay good money, and expext the same in return, then they the american dealers wonder why we're not buying american anymore, i thought i'd be loyal american and buy american and this is how we get rewarded. shame on Ford, a class action law suit would suit them well, anyone up for the job?
AnonymousMy 02 F250sd spit a plug before my second payment, Had to pull the heads off, so we installed a helicoil repair kit on all 8 cylinders. I have not even had it two years and spit out one of the REPAIRED plugs. Considering getting a lwayer. THERE IS NO FIX, THEY WILL STILL SPIT OUT AFTER THE REPAIR. TRITON STRIKES AGAIN!!! LEGAL ACTION IS REQUIRED
Larry MossGoing 40 on paved road, heard a POP, guess what, #3 on passanger side ejected and took out the coil pack. No threads in head to reinstall the spark plug, big time problem.
Dale DeGaetanoI run a repair shop in new england and thus far have seen more of these blown out spark plugs than I can count. It is disgusting to think that this mechanical epidemic is in no relation to piss poor engineering. FORD HAS TO MAKE GOOD. Or they with be closing many more factories in the near future. I myself own a 2000 f-150 with a triton 4.6. I live everyday with the constant shadow of demise lurking under my hood. I am a die hard ford truck enthusiast. This hurts my moral compass.
