| 101 | Jeff Ahlheim | I have a 2000 F250 V10 with 74,000 miles. Just blew out the number 4 sparkplug... Ford definetly needs to take action if they want to keep their loyal customers such as myself.......... |
| 102 | George Cox | I launched numer three and now i am stuck in canada and i have my own wedding to go to in three days and i can't afford the rental or to fix my truck in canada. Ford needs to fix this and recall and there needs to be a class action lawsuit against htis now i will miss my own wedding thanks to a 01 ford f-150 supercrew. |
| 103 | Jeff Rideout | YES, I HAVE A 2001 EXPEDITION THAT SHOT OUT THE #4 PLUG TWICE. DEALER WAS NO HELP THE FIRST TIME SO I TOOK TO AN ENGINE SHOP AND THEY INSTALLED AN INSERT. IT BLEW OUT IMMEDIATELY. THEY THEN REMOVED THE HEAD AND SENT IT OFF FOR MORE WORK. THEY INSTALLED AN INSERT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAD THAT MUSHROOM OUT TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE HEAD. NOW IT REQUIRES A SPECIAL PLUG. IT HAS HELD FOR ABOUT 40K MILES BUT I AM OUT $1200.00 DOLLARS AND I AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THE REST OF THE PLUGS. |
| 104 | Mark | Crap! Where's the freakin Recall??? I own a 2002 F150 and three spark plugs and coils already had to be replaced. It is wrong when so many people are having the same problem and there is no recall. I want my money back!!!! |
| 105 | Thomas Gill | I have a 1999 F150 Lightning. The spark plug popped out of the cylinder head. I had to ahve the cylinder replaced and it cost about $3,000. |
| 106 | Clyde Lewis | Just blew the #3 plug on my 2002 Expedition. Only 71k on it. Not even time for routine maintanance according to my owners manual. |
| 107 | William J. Burgess | 99 Ford F250 Super Duty, Just replaced all the rotors and brakes, transmission and NOW the #2 plug blew out. Just found out it was a flaw on the internet. |
| 108 | Jimmie Kenyon | I have had two plugs blow out one at 80,00 and the other at 120,000 on my 2002 f150 harley davidson. I took the truck to ford and they offered to put a new motor in for $6,000 plus. They also said that they was aware of the promblem with the spark plugs ejecting. They said they would lower the cost on the engine $800.00. Has any body contacted the local news for help with this promblem about ford. Any body intersted in contacting fox 4 news in Dallas, Texas this week and explain to them the promblems you have had with this, they would love to hear your story please email me at dataland@cebridge.net |

| 113 | danny hudson | We have a v-10 that blew a spark plug and we had to replace the head at a cost of around $3000. Since this is a know problem ford should shoulder the repair cost, they did not!

| 114 | terry mccall | 2000 f350 5.4 may 2007 139.000mi this is a hard pill to swallow just blew # 8 plug i have know about this poor plug placement for a few years now was waiting for it to happen i do most all my own work on this motor it sucks it thaks over 4 hour to change plugs that shoulde take only 15 min and this coil on plug $80 x8=660 and it dosent seen to give any better gas miles. it seen ford only thing it to make a more costly motor to be repaired good for the dealer. i work in construction ford is still the #1 truck for now but when it cost repair become to high they will go to other makes . it been going on for over 9 years now (blowing plugs) i have only had ford truckS for the last 45 years i only ask ford which truck would they buy or tell friends to buy .NO MORE FORD TILL THEY MAKE IT RIGHT |

| 116 | jason Stang | i have had 4 plugs "pop" out |
| 117 | Sally Thompson | Add my name to this list. I popped a spark plug in my babied '98 Navigator this past weekend. |
| 118 | Sarah Grant | It's ridiculous for a company to blow off such a serious problem. To me that just shows a lack of credibilty in the Ford Motor Co. Another reason why I will never buy Ford. |

| 123 | Dan Sanders | I have had this happen 4 times. In my 2000 f250 5.4. It seems like everytime I get in my truck it spits out a freakin plug.I guess ford is joining all the other sorry a$$ companys with their customer support.the stickers right piss on ford!!!!!! |
| 124 | Dave Techentin | We blew out the #9 plug on our 1997 V10 at 117,000 miles. The mechanic who repaired it with a TimeSert said, "This design is criminal."
This is a classic design defect. Ford provided only 4 or 5 threads in the aluminum head for the long shanked steel spark plug. Good design practices recommend thread engagements of at least 2 diameters for steel into aluminum. Each engine thermal cycle stresses and deforms the aluminum threads until the plug loosens and blows.
NHTSA denied a petition 2 years ago stating that they did not regard blown plugs as a safety issue and didn't feel it warranted further consideration. NHTSA's report downplayed the presence of fuel and ignition sources after a plug blows and left the impression that it is OK to drive the vehicle even though there is some loss of power.
This is a recipe for more engine fires if I ever heard one. Fuel blows out of the open spark plug hole on every compression stroke and the damaged ignition coil or lead is flopping around in the breeze.
This is a safety issue. I have written a complaint to NHTSA and asked them to reopen their study (Reference NHTSA petition DP05-005). |
| 125 | Anonymous | My 99 f150 5.4 blew out #3 on 6/28/07 (84,000 miles).Fixed it with heli-coil but I can no longer trust this vehicle which makes it completely useless to me. Going to trade it in on something other than a Ford, which is shame because I really like the truck. |
| 126 | Anonymous | 2003 Mustang GT just spit one out |
| 127 | John Brown | I own a 2000 Ford Expedition and I have had nothing but problems since 2004 with respect to my spark plugs. I have now had three helicoils installed with the most recent being two weeks ago. A week after the last replacement of #4, I was towing my boat to the lake when I realized that I had no power. Long story short, I took it back to Hemborg Ford (Norco, CA) who had performed the two other helicoil replacements as well. Keep in mind this is just one week after the #4 helicoil replacement. They tell me that I have a "compression problem" and that the leak is comming from the #4 head. Of course they say that this problem had nothing to do with the fact that they had just placed a helicoil in #4. Not being a mechanic, I cannot prove anything, but it just seems a bit odd that I have a "compression issue" at the same cylinder that they just worked on. Now that I am three helicoils into this ($2400.00) I am fearful of having no gaurantee for the other 5 cylinders and as a result have elected to pay Hemborg Ford an additional $5600.00 to install a new (rebuilt) engine in my 2000 Expedition to gaurd against any further spark plug/compression issues in the future. |

| 129 | Philip Bostrom | 2002 F250 V10 Blow out plug. $5248.00 for new head. 96,000. |
| 130 | Michael Bullock | Just blew spark plug #3 out. Surprised to find out how common this appears to be. Ford should own up to this and issue a recall. |
| 131 | travis boswell | I have bought Ford products exclusively since 1966. Ihave a 1999 Expedition, bought new, 92000 pampered miles, just blew out no. 5 plug. My local Ford dealer in Bremerton, Wash. wants between 6000 to 8000 dollars to replace the engine. this is unacceptable, if Ford wont' take care of this they will never see another penny of my money. |

| 133 | James T. Black | Ford, you need to admit a design flaw and do the right thing by recalling these engines for a proper fix. I hold little hope that this will happen, but urge everyone to file a complaint with the Nation Highway Transportation Safety Administration, Office of Defects Investigations at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/, and ask them to reopen their investigation of Ford Triton engines, to get Ford to recall and fix these engines. |
| 134 | Jessica in NJ | I have a 2001 Ford Expedition with 90k miles and the #4 spark plug just blew out. It's been a lemon since the day i brought it home but they wouldn't take it back. I am so mad to see how many people this has happened to. They told me to just trade it in as is, w/o fixing it. Yeah right, so they can sucker me into a new Ford, with no trade in credit??? I don't think so, i'm getting a Toyota. I'm just waiting for my 1998 Ford F-250 to do the same. I hope it happens in their parking lot, fire and all. |

| 136 | John haddock | Just got my 1998 expedition w/ 5.4 L engine back from the local ford dealer service department. It blew spark plug (bosch) out of head. For ~$650.00 they used heli-coil to install blown plug. Also changed out the other 7 plugs with "correct" Ford plugs. They said they have seen this problem only 6-7 times. They strongly suggested I dump the EXP as it will happen again. I guess they were honest from that stand point. Because of my 1998 EXP's problem, I actually test drove and fell in love love a fully loaded new 2007 EXP today. Now I find out this!! This is really discouraging. The only recourse I have is to NOT buy Ford. No wonder they have lost so much market share. |
| 137 | Brian Hughes | This is our second plug that has blown out. My wife loves her Ford truck but can't afford a $1000 repair bill every few months to fix plugs that randomly decide to expell themselves from the engine. |
| 138 | Jane Black | Gee thanks Ford, for " standing behind your crappy engine design. Blew a spark plug today in a 2001 Ford E-350 cargo van and it took the relatively new coil pack with it. Luckily my friend had AAA and they towed it for free which saved me about 160.00 in towing alone. May I suggest to anyone with one of these crappy engines to invest the 100 a year in AAA as you know you will be getting your money's worth. One tow alone will pay for the entire year and then some |
| 139 | Jim Wood | I agree with the above written comments and conclusions.
I own a motorhome powerede by a Ford V10 engine. At 107,000 Km (just over 60,000 miles), one spark plug blew out. |
| 140 | Anonymous | Has not happened to me yet.. But I am nervous. 2003 Ford Expedition E/B 75k miles |
| 141 | JERRY POLLARD | I hope ford steps up to correct this very obvious design flaw |
| 142 | Scott Johnson | My 2002 Ford F250 blew #3 back on each side at 80k and 90k. Ford's better idea was to allow for a "blank" or "no thread" guide space within the plug hole so that the plug insertion robot would not strip the hole of the aluminum head during assembly. You see, the blank area helps align the plug into the head. Early 80's Ford Escorts had the same problem.
Sooo...here is the deal. The ford Aluminum head has about three or four threads. The steel bodied spark plug is not torqued properly. Aluminum and steel have different expansion rates when they are hot. It's a "DESIGN" flaw. What realy blows me away is stupidity of the local Ford Dealers when they claim they've never heard of it happening.
Read about my blown plug adventure at www.motowerx.com and follow the links to Ric's site.
Now let's all let Ford know this is B.S. |

| 145 | Lance Archer | I am horrified to learn of this flawed head design on the Triton engine. I own a 2000 F150 since new and now am worried sick since it only has 68,000 miles. It seems like its only a matter of time so I'm going to sell this truck. Shame on Ford for allowing this design to continue and treat their customers like crap. I'll never buy another Ford. This was my first and will be my last. So long Ford!! you suck!! |

| 148 | Eric Lauer | I have had the #3 spark plug "go Bad" not pop out but the dealership did not recomend that at 111,000 that I have the "Tune-up" done. As we all know the tune-up is Spark plug replacement.F150 super crew 2001. |
| 149 | Curtis Nichols | Ford 2003 F-250 Lariat with 5.4. 78000 miles blew # 3 plug, then again at 89000 miles. At 92500 the motor went. Dealer said the plug problem could have "hurt" the motor. Definatly hurt my wallet, 5600.00 bucks for a new motor. |
| 150 | andrew evans | i have a 2001 f-350 v-10. blew a plug at 61000 miles on 7-24-07 that's great!!!!! i have an extended warranty with a $100.00 ded. hell if i am going to pay more than that! |
