| 51 | marco latino | Hello people i am glad this spark plug defect has been taken seriously. I have a 2002 Ford f 150 lightning with only 45k. I am a bit frustrated by this b/c we all know how much these trucks cost only for their engines to blow up with such low mileage. My spark plug shot out of my 3rd cylinder head this past September. I contacted Ford on this it would not be covered even with extended warranty. I can't just pull out 5,400 just like that to get both heads replaced. i am currently making monthly payments 466.34 for a vehicle that i am unable to drive. any don't believe me on this my truck has a cover over it in my driveway until i can get it fixed. it is in clear public view. This is rediculouse people. I can only hope that Ford with own up to it. Please contact me with any questions i am more than willing to help on this one. I am behind this 100 percent and you have my signature. All i want is my truck back. |
| 52 | George Perdicaris | I have a 2001 Lightning, my spark plug blew out with only 60,000 miles. Ford said that it wouldn't be covered under extended warranty. so i ended up paying 5,600 hundred to fix the heads on the right and a new pully system. If Ford recalls the enginge head defect i want to recoupe some if not all my cost paid to them to fix the defect. This is not right people i bought this truck b/c Ford says "Built Tough". It is anything but that. we all know how costly these trucks are, i am just upset b/c how much more money do i have to spend to get a quailty truck. It just is not fair no matter how you cut. it. Ford should own up to it and recall their f 150 series and fix the defect. |

| 54 | Erica Marnati | I own a 2002 Harley F150 with 50k miles and my spark plug was ejected leaving me stranded on the side of the highway. I cannot afford to replace the heads and was able to have a temporary fix done in order to drive the vehicle. Like the mechanic said though, it can last 10 minutes or 10 years. Ford definitely needs to fix this problem. |

| 57 | Jeff | I have a 2003 F250 V10 60k the spark plug blew out. I own a small business and have a family to take care of that is why I bought the truck I have. However this DEFECT has cost me enormously just like the rest of you. You are all absolutely correct Ford HAS TO DO SOMETHING we are spending between 20k and 60k on these trucks and expect to at least get 100k (not too much to ask). Im sure at some point and time all of us have had our families in these FAULTY vehicles that can catch fire at anytime and god forbid, but this could really hurt or kill someone important to us. Ford doesnt want to acknowledge this problem because they are too good to admit something is wrong with a vehicle. Maybe one of those big shots that read some of this will really sit back and think on a personal level "what if this happens to one of my loved ones" then it might just be too late. Please put me on any list to get something done about this I would like to get some of my money back but more than that FIX THE PROBLEM own up to your saying BUILT FORD TOUGH (yeah right). |
| 58 | George Sanchez | 2001 mustang GT, 59k miles spit out spark plug, had to tow, rent car, was late to work, stressing since I have been told I need to replace the engine, I would hate to replace head to have tis happen again. |
| 59 | Peter R. Salberg | |
| 60 | David D. Woytek, Jr. | This is a real problem and Ford needs to take care of the problem. |
| 61 | Matthew Cyr | I have now had 2 plugs blow out of the same head on my Wife's 99 expidition. Have 140K on my 97 LD F-250 with same engine and no problems yet. Really need to get the state Atty Generals on this. |
| 62 | Richard L. Hartmann | Please include the 1997 Explore with the single overhead cam engine. |
| 63 | Anonymous | I hope Ford takes this seriously, I dont want to have to get a Dodge, but I will if they they insist on refusing liability for this engineering defect. |
| 64 | Mike L | My Ford 98 F-150 Blew the 3rd plug while driving 30mph on a dirt road. This is not cheap, and is happening to a lot of people. Ford really needs to do a recall and get this problem solved. Its not making the company look good, and its not safe. |
| 65 | Cesar A. Roque | Today, 3-31-07, I too have become one of the unfortunate. My 2000 F150 4x4 v-8 triton just blew a spark plug and believe me,it was spooky.Reading about the many complaints on this issue and on the different triton engines i have to agree that yes it is a design flaw and that ford should man up and repair or replace the heads on all ford vehicles which owners have this problem like myself.$3,000 is no chump change especially for people like myself. My name is Cesar A. Roque I live at 7408 Gaymont Drive in Louisville Kentucky.Between my wife and my self own 3 ford vehicles and always been proud to recomend Ford to anyone. Have been satisfied with our vehicles 100% but the cost of this repair should be for all of us either $0 or a basic minimum charge. |
| 66 | David Mudd | I own a 2000 excursion with a 5.4L engine. I have blown 4 plugs and coils(50 bucks each). Truck sits in the driveway waiting for the head ferry to bring me a new one. Looks like i am a Toyota man from now on. |
| 67 | Mark Twite | The spark plug on my 2002 F350 V10 blew out in late January, one month before my final payment. It still is parked in the driveway, unoperational. Even if a helicoil kit is installed, I can never trust taking the truck out of town again. It was the vehicle we used when we visited family out of town. Now it will just be a parked testimate to the bad head design by Ford. |
| 68 | Wayne Dickson | '04 F-150 $3,120 for repairs due to (2) two factory plugs blown out. 68,086 miles. |
| 69 | Barbara Miller | Fix it at your expense Ford! I am afraid to drive the damned thing with all the issues it appears to have...."built Ford tough", don't make me laugh! |
| 70 | Steve Kauffman | |
| 71 | Trent | 2000 f-150 7700 5.4 triton. 100,000 miles. it's happend 3 times to me. The heli-coil has worked so far. But it happende yesterday for the 3rd time. different cylinder. good news though I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I'm almost halfway through all 8 cylinders. The first time it freaked me out thought i blew the engine. the Second time I knew what it was . The third time I just pulled over and got the coil and the spark plug recovered and drove it home not even giving it a second thought. Im not going to give ford another 3 to 5000, on this truck, i've paid them enough |
| 72 | Anonymous | I drive my Ford truck everyday wtih my two kids. How are you supposed to get your kids out in a safe manner in a safe place (off the road) if a fire occurs. Ford employees receive an incentive to drive these vehicles...now I guess we know why! |
| 73 | Tim Garrity | Thought my pride and joy shoot me yesterday! She desided to spit #2 plug along with coil. Had no idea the ford tough triton had this issue. Always owned fords, do the right thing FORD MOTOR COMPANY |
| 74 | Andrew Loesch | my 04 Ford lightning Blew out the #3 spark plug. My truck only has 44,000 miles on it. Now I'm afraid to do any upgrades to the motor for fear that it will happen again! A stock lightning is fun but not as fun as one with mods!!. Ford needs to fix this problem. But I hear they are as broke as I am. |
| 75 | Mark Burdick | Description : March 16, 2007. V8 (5.4L) I began to hear a loud popping sound under the hood. The back passenger side 3 cylinder spark plug had blown out. My 1999 V8 5.4 had blown the spark plug ceramic portion out of the head. I had a mechanic look at it. He said this was a common event for the Fords. He is saying that to fix it a heli-coil the plug hole to save me a head job, though he\'s having problems due to the location of the plug. Now checking the web I see there are many many...of Fords with the same problem the FED has even urged Ford to fix and recall this problem...FORD NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT |
| 76 | JEFF BIRGE | HELLO,
MY PLUG ON MY F-250 SUPER DUTY BLOW OUT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THEN ABOUT 2WEEKS LATER ANOTHER BLOW OUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET FORD TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN MARCH OF 07. |
| 77 | Anonymous | Own a 99 Ford F150 - #3 plug blew out - $3K minimum to repair - will never purchase another Ford truck again due to this problem. |
| 78 | Curt Johnson | Yes, I just spent over $3,000 to repair my 1999 Ford Expedition for a plug that blew out. |
| 79 | Anonymous | just bought a 2002 f-150 3 weeks ago. Now the #7 cylinder is misfiring. Has not blown out yet but think it is coming soon. |
| 80 | Joshua A. Johnson | I have had both #3 and #5 spark plugs blow out. I was able to replace in new spark plugs into both, but # 3 just blew out again today after less than two months and it stripped the threads. My car is now at MY mechanics to get rethreaded hopefully! |
| 81 | miles | I am putting together a class action for the ford TRITON SPARK PLUG EJECTION problem. email me if you want to join, miles@thinkresults.us |
| 82 | James Fowler | What kind of crap is this ?? No wonder Japanese auto makers are kicking our asses. Ford needs to rectify this situation if they want to keep people purchasing thier riggs. |
| 83 | Robert Barsotti | i have a 1999 ford expedition that blew the #4 plug have fixed it once now its out again. i can not belive the amount of poeple that have had the same problem. for the price of these vehicles even used at the time i bought mine it was not cheap. now i couldnt give it away. dont think i will buy a ford again |
| 84 | Anonymous | I have a 1998 expadition, blew one plug out 8 months ago, just blew another today- I have had enough. I am going to pull mine to the dealer and place a big sign that says Ford will not stand behind the products. I will tell everybody I know never buy a Ford. |
| 85 | Tom | I have just experienced the same thing as all of the parties to this petition. My 1998 Ford F250 V-8 5.4 L, which I just bought 6 months ago, blew a plug. I bought this vehicle from a dealership that I thought was reputable. I also had it serviced at a renown Ford Dealership in Oklahoma City. Obviously, they knew about the problem and never said a word until the plug blew. I took it back in 3 days ago and the repair cost was around $3800.00 minimum. They then tell me that the head at already been helicoiled once, so the party I bought it from already knew about the problem and quick fixed it so I would be stuck with the problem. I worked hard to save for this truck and paid cash for it. The first Ford I have ever owned. I will never, ever, ever, buy another Ford. Not only is the manufacturer corrupt the dealerships they assign to do repairs are just as corrupt at covering up this problem. I just happened to go on the internet and found all of you people that have the same problem. I thought I was alone in this...Ford certainly didn't bother to tell me about all of you out there having the same problem. I am happy to provide any documentation needed to assist with a Class Action Lawsuit. To on Topix.net and you will see plenty of other folks who also have no where to go thanks to Ford. What a tragedy that an American Icon would let this happen to the people that built them. They should be ashamed. |
| 86 | Harry Wheeler | 2000 f150, just blew #3 spark plug.I work at Ford Motor Co. K.C.A.P. VERY UNHAPPY NOW as I read all the complaints..And one wonders why we are going down hill. !!! Here goes $600.00. |
| 87 | Anonymous | I now have 2 plugs that have blown out I am so sick they are saying that I need a head job to fix it costing thousands of dollars I will never buy another Ford cause they will not stand behind them Ford Trucks built tuff (My Ass)... |
| 88 | Clint Sullins | We are a Ford family. We have a 2002 E-450, 2000 F-350, 2004 Expedition and a 2005 Escape. So far the E-450 with less than 70,000 miles was in the shop for the same issues with the spark plug. We have since had it repaired and the cost was $7,000. Ford needs to be hled liable!!!!!! |
| 89 | Anonymous | I have a 1997 Ford Expedition with 150k. I have replaced at least 4 coils each time costing over 150 bucks with labor. Now it blows a plug on 3 cyl(right side) and is going to cost me over 5,000 dollars to get a new engine!!!
I tried the helia coil, 400 bucks later found it did no good.
I want to recoup my losses and I want Ford to own up to this.
Just as others have said, "Built Ford tough" my a--!
More like Built punk tough.
I have contacted a the Ford dealer I purchased this from and I get the runaround that "well it is 9 years old, why should Ford do anything".
GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!!!
I would drive this vehicle anywhere until this happened, now it would be a stretch to go out of town.
I want my money back!
I will have to fix this because I need something to drive, and the dealers will only give me a fraction of what it is worth now,,,, what does that tell you !!!
Put my name on the long list of unhappy Ford Owners.
Mike A. |
| 90 | Anonymous | Ford needs to make this right. They advertise Ford tough. Well this falls way short. |

| 92 | KEVIN CLOUSER | |
| 93 | KEVIN CLOUSER | 99 5.4 blew out #3 plug one week after the coil was replaced, heili coiled it . I have a 02 5.4 also both motors use oil. and the windshields leak wrecking the electrical systems. the company knows this also. |
| 94 | KEVIN CLOUSER | 99 5.4 blew out #3 plug one week after the coil was replaced, heili coiled it . I have a 02 5.4 also both motors use oil. and the windshields leak wrecking the electrical systems. the company knows this also. |
| 95 | John Massey | 1998 F150 5.4 Triton |
| 96 | Patrick Collins | On 4/6/07 while driving my Expedition down the Grapevine (interstate 5 in CA) I heard a loud pop followed by a continuous popping sound. After coasting to the offramp I discovered that the #3 spark plug (with coil attached) had blown out from the head. The dealer wants $2400 for repair, $4400 for a head replacement, or $5400 for an engine replacement. So far I have paid for towing and the dealers evaluation cost, and I have no vehicle to drive. |
| 97 | Richard Carpenter | ford 250 same thing blown sparkplug $3500 repair. |
| 98 | David Lott | I have a 1999 Ford F-150 Supercab 4x4. I have enjoyed the truck and it has given me no problems until 155,000 miles. If I had done a better job of research on their problems I would have bought something else. Naturally, mine had to blow plug
#4. I was able to use a thread chaser the first time, but then 700 miles later, it blew out again. It is too far back to helicoil without pulling the head. I am also grieved that American car manufactuors fail often to honor the sense of pride they boast about.
I hope that none of our soldiers have put their lives in jepardy engaging the enemy with a blown spark and a misfiring engine built on Ford's "Quality is job One" pride. If Ford wants pride with quality , then take responsibilty for an obviously flawed engine defect. |
| 99 | Joseph Ridenour | This has been fun. I have had 2 of my plugs spit out. One of them has now been repaired twice! If one of the same plugs blows again the head will certainly need to be replaced. Now I worry every time I drive it. |
