740 Anonymous2001 V10 Excursion with 149,466 miles...I have blown 5 plugs in less than 3,000 miles. 3 plugs in less than 500 miles after visit to local FoMoCo dealer for repair of Cylinder # 9. First was # 5 while on a buisness trip in SC, #9 while at home idling, #3 while vacationing in NC, # 2 & # 7 while trying to get home on temporary repair of #3. Youn man at a frachised tune-up place in Henderson said I would be lucky to make it home with-out blowing another and he ws right blew 2 within 50 miles of home. Ford dealer tech stated that seldom do they repair more than 2 per engine when asked if there was some P/M work that could be done while he was reparing #9. In less than 500 miles after FoMoCo dealer reapir the engine has spit 3 more plugs. Young tech in Henderson said that when plugs were changed by locale repair shop (not Ford dealer) that this FoMoCo defect was aggravated by installation due to the number of failures. He stated that new or rebuilt head should be installed to increase the life of this otherwise wonderful-well cared for-one owner vehicle.

742 Rusty HesslerI have an F250 with the 5.4 liter. I have 170,000 on the truck. I bought it a year ago from the Wyoming Highway Department, I now understand why they are going to Chevy for trucks. My truck spit out the #3 spark plug and coil pack. It was running great until it spit it out. This should have been addressed in 2002 when the truck was new.

750 JerryTook 2001 Ford Expedition to dealer because engine was losing power and making a ticking sound. They checked it out and stated everything was fine. They stated that I probaly just needed my fuel injectors cleaned. Therefore, I purchased the fuel injection cleaning service. Approximately 2 days later while driving, the engine made a horrible sound/power loss and was no longer driveable. The Expedition was towed the next day to Jenning Anderson Ford at my expense. Damage Resulting = This has been a nightmare. They told me that I had a "blown spark plug". They told me I needed either a new head ($4000) or I could buy a new engine ($6000). I told them I brought the Expedition to the dealer in the first place 2 days ago to avoid this whole mess. I believe they were negligent. I believe they knew what was going on before but, they told me everything was fine. All they had to do was tighten the plugs or replace the head in the first place. This cost me time, money and alot of stress for my family.
