Pete GarciaI have a ford f250 and had a plug blown out.
hugh maclennanI have a 1999 ford 250. It blew a plug at 200,000K. very diappointing as the repair cost renders the other wise good truck, scrap value.
Mike PetersenI just purchased a 2001 F250 SD, dont have 2000 miles since purchased. The person I purchased it from was a ford man all the way all receipts for everything ever done were at the ford dealer he purchased it from. Yesterday it blew out and destroyed the coil pack on the passenger side 4th plug back . Total vehicle miles are 92,000, sad situation, from all I have read since this is a big time issue and ford should be stepping up to the plate
Bruce OlsonI thought my exhaust manifold was leaking... couldn't be so lucky. V-10 Cylinder #4, I can't believe this is allowed to continue! My time, cost of parts and tools, plus loss of use as a DIY'r is more than a $1000, if I succeed in repairing it...
Jesus CuellarI had a spark plug blow out shortly after having the dealer do a tune up. the reapir at the dealer cost me almost $800.00.
BranditMy Spark Plugs have not blown out but the #3&4 Plugs will not come out!!! Can not get the plugs out!
James CernyWe have a 2002 Ford Expedition and this is horrible to hear about.
AnonymousWe have a 2002 Ford Expedition and this is horrible to hear about.
Sam MartinJust had this problem 7/9/08 with my 2004 Ford Explorer 4.6. Had towed to nearest Ford dealer for $90/ six miles. repaired for 0ver $600 dollars. Dealer has had a few similiar. My truck has 122,000 miles.I bought new. Cylinder #one. front passenger side.I have had 5 explorers and one escape. (3 were 5.0'ssince 1995.)
Trevor ClowesleyI have a 2001 F-150 and the #4 cyl plug blew out on me and I was in AL on vacation. I live in VA if you can see the problem there. I found a Helicoil kit at the auto parts store and installed it. I made it home but 3 months later it is giving me problems again.
mark hammondblew #3 at 56,000
Todd Hoffart2000 F-150, spit plug, head needs repair
jacob brennerhappened on my 98 CVPI so it happens with the crown victorias and i wouldnt doubt the mustangs as well
Doug ohara1999 f250 5.4 just blew a plug. Dont know what to do now
AnonymousI own a 2003 crown victoria police interceptor this past saturday night while on patrol I blew the number three spark plug out of the head. Ford claims that they built the PI for severe duty well with an inoperable car and ford refusing to admit there defective craftsmanship is the cause.
Jeff BarrasMy wondeful Navigator shot a plug out last week. The plug fell in and struck the piston. ouykcuf Ford!!! 68,000 miles and now I need a new motor!! FORD SUCKS, I never owned one and I never will again.
AnonymousWe had a 99 expedition (Past tense because we got rid of the piece of shit) On December 24th 2006 the spark plug on the passenger side clear on the back blew out. It cost $1500.00 to have it fixed. My wife and I had to take the kids christmas gifts back to help pay for it. The only way this will become a recall is when someone dies. I HATE FORD I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS SOMEDAY
Shannon GallagherI have had #3 blow out and I didn't have the $ to put it in the shop and rebuilt it with Helicoil, now two months later it has do it again. This vehicle is a lemon from the factory and they should refund some if not all of the cost to replace the heads or replace the vehicle.

Randy RochwergWhy does Ford keep denying these issues when thousands of people complain, do they not learn law suit after lawsuit.
Richard ArceniaI drive in constant fear that this will happen to my car. I'm retired on disability and could never afford to fix this high $ repair.
Anonymous2000 Mustang owner, 80,000 miles. Blown Plug. Only 4 threads holding plugs in? What was Ford engineer's thinking during the design of the 4.6 engine? Everyone that has had a blown plug should contact their State's Attorney General's office and submit a written complaint. THAT would get things rolling as far as a recall is concerned.
Beau2001 F-150 blew out the #7 plug. This is just stupid that Ford won't take any responsibility for the ignorant engineers that came up with this design. If they don't consider it a problem then why did they change the design in later model triton's. I'm about to go trade in on a chevy. You suck Ford!
Mike GratesWell yet another customer...taken. I myself has a '02 F150 that decided to blow out a plug on cylinder #3. My truck only has 51,581 miles on it. Yet I still get the same response as all of the rest...sorry but your out of warranty! Wake up Ford, you have a problem. Stand up and address it!
Brent McKimI have a 2002 Harley F-150 . I have now blown out my 3rd different spark plug . I have used the inserts to repair these. They seem to be holding up ok. i am considering just going ahead and putting the inserts in the other 5 that have not blown out yet so i wont end up stuck out somewhere like i have before. New heads and labor would be really expensive. Ford should honor this problem but it would cost them big time. Problem is they dont want to warranty heads that have had the plugs changed because no one knows if they were installed properly, So they just dont want to stand behind any of them. My truck went 70,000 miles before it started spitting out spark plugs. I dont have a receipt for all my labor doing all these repairs.
William A BrownMy 1999 F350 V10 ejected right side rear plug leaving me stranded 500 miles from home. As I do research I see MANY Ford owners have had like failures - many with repeat failures. I see I can expect more like failures and can expect no help from Ford even though they (Ford repair shops) admit it is a design flew. I think it is time to go purchase a Dodge or Chevy.
AnonymousJust blew the front driverside spark plug which broke the ignition coil right off. I am from LA and I am stuck in San Francisco. Ford mechanic said faulty installation. All I know I am out 1500 and extended stay in San Francisco
Darren steinemannI also had the No.3 plug blow out as well...i work for Ford...the good thing is i am laid off for 3 weeks so at least I have the time to fix it. Thats sarcasim by the way.
Thomas E. Rollins Jr.Oh Boy! I have not had a problem YET... i bought a 2001 F150 5.4L in Nov. 2007 with 44,000 miles...runs great or so i thought.. after Tropical Storm Fay's 5 straight days of rain truck started running rough..no CEL...when it came on..code reader says "misfire cylinder #4" I am reading this a common problem.. now i have to read that they can blow out spark plugs..aaarrgghh...i am a Ford man...and have had 3 prior...but they were in the 90's..and had no problems..i am just starting to pay for this truck for 5 years..i cannot afford a major repair such as this.. Ford needs to fix this...for all of us!
Jamie Riggins2001 Ford Expedition just spit a spark plug. Geting estimates for repair at least 2,000 dollars
Ralph I. KilliebrewI had to replace #6 Coil pack and was told this is normal .. I'm thinking of switching to another manufacture
mark knowles2003 ford expedition , 63000 miles ,popped number 3 plug. dealer told me this is a very common problem and ford knows about it. No help in the money dept for the repair though. I have had 5 fords since 84 , can you say hello toyota tundra? I can.
John T. Gonzalez
Troy AllportHave 2001 ford f-150 V-8 triton. The engine just blew friday 8-5-2008. No warning nothing. truck has been very well maintained. Was running fine! Now i need a new engine. I don't understand so many complaints? Why is Ford doing nothing!
Ben KinikiniPlug blew out the other day, on my 2000 Ford Excursion V10, while returning, from taking the kids to school. Fortunately, I was only a few blocks from home. But, the following week, I had a 800+ mile trip planned, and the truck was my mode of transportation. I personally, have never had this happen before, on any of my previous vehicles, but they weren't Fords either.
william Witloski98 expedition number 4 plug blew, did not realize that it was such a major issue, I read post after post of the same problem sounds to me that there should be a law suit, sign me up

Dan PadorI had the 2nd to the last spark plug blow out of the drivers side cylinder head twice. The first blow out was a heli-coil, the second was the whole head was replaced.
Brandon JadlockiI have a 2004 F-250 superduty with a 5.4L trition v8. I was going 3 mph today while pulling into a restaurant (engine near idle) and my #4 plug popped out. It was the same stereotypical problem as the rest. the engine was IDLING . I have already replaced one engine in a 2002 econoline van because of the spark plug seizure issue. Ford would have to do some serious butt kissing to get my personal and my company business again. By the way I USED TO by only fords for my company. Not any more.
Anonymousi have a 2002 for explorer and my spark plug shot ot and it has 90,000 miles this sucks they should fix it
