Craig PetersonI own a 04 F-150 and during the 100,000 Km scheduled maintenance 2 of the spark plugs broke off. Total cost to change the plugs,,,,$3000+ and that does not include the differential which is howling like a banshee and is going to cost another $2500. Built Ford Tough? What does that mean besides nothing.
wesI own a 2000 Ford Expedition and since April of 2007 I have had to deal with this FOUR times all different plugs, with the most recent 3 in the past 6 months.

patricia heverlyour 2001 F150 spit out a spark plug. First time the head was retapped. It lasted a few months. This time a different mechanic put in a heli coil. Hope it lasts. This truck lasted a little longer than some had 170,000 on it.

Kevin W. RisherBlew out the #6 plug. 86,000 miles on 2001 F250. I will not buy another Ford. EVER.
Jim KromThis is absolutley ridiculous. I have a 2002 f150 supercrew with only 68,000 miles on it and the #4 plug has blown out twice. I have owned ford trucks all my life and if this happens is one thing. But for Ford not to fix this problem is another and I think im done with Ford

Anonymous2001 Ford Excursion, V-10 with 68,000 miles blew spark plug when starting. Heard ticking a few days prior. Warranty company balked at fixing, said it was a "spark plug" issue but they did end up covering the cost of heliocoil. Word of warning...check plugs annually if not sooner:(
AnonymousJust experienced "Spark Plug Blow-Out" on my 1999 Expedition - 5.4L engine...$532.21 to repair it now I have to wonder if I get to do this 7 more times...Rediculous!

So not only am I out a day's pay, but now I see this is a bigger problem than I originally thought. 484 Joseph WeinmullerI have a 2002 Ford F150 with a 130,000 miles. It just blew #2 spark plug and broke the coil at the same time. After getting it to the shop I found that there were others about to fail as well. In the end I had to pay up for all the spark plug threads to be time serted. Ford needs to be held responsible for this mess.

Chris BracasI have a 2001 F-150 extended cab with the 5.4 liter. It blew the number 3 valve plug two times now. It's amazing that Ford won't stand behind this. It is definately the last Ford I will ever buy.
Cecil BinghamGuess what! My engine just blew for the second time in 2 years. 1998 F-150 Triton 4.6 . I thought I was the only one until I started the search for another engine tonight 4/19/08. Am not happy to have read all this. Been a Ford man all my life,I'm 71 now,and hope to live long enough to see Ford change their mind on this issue. Meanwhile, like the rest of you, I will be telling everyone I know, and meet, from now until Ford does something. The big problem is I need a truck. Oh well, Chevrolet has a lot of them, and so does the foreign market. So long Ford, you will be sorry. Roanoke ,Va.
Kevin02 F150 4-6 just spit a spark plug 131,000k
AnonymousI have a 2002 Ford Harley Truck that I have taken great care of. I was slowly accelerating and the #3 cyl plug basically tore out of the head and now I either have to have it repaired with a Heli-Coil or have the head replaced.
Terry PowerI have had 2 blown plugs in the past 4 months, the first reply from garage is that it's a known problem???
Jennifer StrickerMine just did this today!! I am a single mom of 4 kids and I don't have 3500 to fix it! This is crazy I will call ford tomorrow with I am sure no luck but I will find an attorney and go after them!!
JesseI had the same problem. The spark plug shot out 2 times. I'm gong to try the heli coil to see if that works but I think Ford should issue a repair kit or something to fix this problem.
DickI blew a Spark plug out of my 5.4 Triton Enging and bought a new kit @$699.00 to replace a new heli coil and have 4 left, if anyone wants to rent the tools @ 100. per hole please call me 573-216-1122 thanks,
scott maullerYes i just bought a 2001 mustang gt from a ford dealer thinking i was getting a great car and a day later driving home from work i heard a loud pop. Car started making loud noises and i thought it was going to blow up. I got the spark plug fixed and bought a new coil about 400 dollars in the hole and now its at the ford dealer because something internally is making noise now!! I a very disappointed and now i'm makeing payments and ins on a car that i have not even had a week and already paying thousands in repairs.
Anonymous1999 F350 blown 4 different plugs this year.
Anonymous# 2 plug blew in a 2001 Expedition with 5.4 Triton. Never heard of this even though Ford knows and even issued a TSB, but no recall. Bad, bad business.
Timothy Wampleron the 24th of april 2008 my 2003 Ford f150 blew its spark plug on the cylinder farthest away on the left side as you stand looking at the engine, i don't know what number cylinder but ill say number 4 left side as you stand looking at it. i got it back to work as i was on my lunch break when this happened. i didn't know what had happened till i called my buddy and he told me it was a common problem and it happened to his dads ford. i drove it back thinking at was some sort of exhaust problem. then i open the hood and find my rubber boot laying on the exhaust found my spark plug laying just outside the it proper hole it goes into, and my coil hanging by its wire as it was broke from its mounting screw. so i threaded the plug back in put the rubber boot back on the coil and put that back onto the spark plug. just so i can get it back home as i had no other way of getting home. i couldn't believe this happened i also had the smell of gas coming into my cab when it happened. i love my truck and don't want to trade it for anything. i just want this problem fixed and if theres a recall id like to be notified.
cless campbell2000 f150 #3 plug blew out and busted coil also. last time ford gets a dime from me! FORD found-on-road-dead.
