KEEP FAMILY UNITY
REINSTATE 245 (i)

Thousands of families face separation from loved ones for ten years unless section 245 (i) is reinstated. Section 245 (i) would help family members of U.S. citizens and permanent residents complete their permanent resident processing in the United States. All that is needed is to change two dates to reinstate 245(i). These families could then finish the final paper work, pay the regular fees and a penalty that is presently set at $1,000. Help show the humane face of American and reinstate 245(i).

This Petition is aimed at members of Congress. These petitions will be presented to Senator Harry Reid and Representative Nancy Pelosi with copies to Senators Kennedy, McCain, Menendez, Salazar, Martinez, Cornyn, Kyl before the end of September.

Opponents to 245(i) claim it is amnesty. These opponents must be shown that opposing 245(i) denies United States Citizens and Permanent Residents the right to be united with their families. The separation is for ten years and sometimes permanently. If a person is denied a hardship waiver to come into the United States and returns anyway that individual can never legally come back into the United States. If 245(i) can not be extended then Congress needs to remove the 3 and 10 year bars for family members of U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.
