Walter Reeder | The horn is so loud that it will wake you from a dead sleep.
| 7 | Sarah Phillips | We have lived three houses from the crossing on Coventry Road for the last five years.
We did get used to the horns at one point after moving into our house, but recently the horns seem to be louder (maybe new engines?) than they used to be.
Please stop the horns! They go on all night several times a night, which is just too much! |
Beth Urban Hart | I live next to the East Lake Road crossing and I find that some of the trains are excessively loud. What I find most attractive about the quiet corridor, though, is actually the added safety that the gates would provide at the crossing. I see many many cars driving through the crossing as trains approach and I worry about potential accidents. Driving under blinking lights is easy--driving around barriers, (or better yet, barriers that can't be navigated past), takes an active decision that many fewer people would make.

Jane Miller | I would like to be able to keep our windows open weather permitting but when they are the sound of the train horn is deafening.
Nancy Pinner | I live closer to Ponce de Leon overpass than Coventry Rd., but some R.R. Engineers blow the horn from my house to the Coventry crossing. These at-grade crossings need gates along with the flashing lights, not horns.

Marcia Wasserman | It seems like they try to be as loud as possible for as long as possible in the middle of the night. It really is disruptive.

Melinda McBride | Please designate this area a quiet zone and request that the railroad install gates. This intersection is way too dangerous without gates!

Cary McNeal | After six years on Coventry Road, we are still not used to the ear-splitting volume of the horn. It awakens us at night. I work at home during the day and count 6-8 trains -- sometimes more --- on any given day, all blaring the horn. It's very hard to get anything done with the constant noise. Thank you.

Margaret Henry | Exactly why is there a need to blow the horn over, over and over at 4:00 am in this quiet, residential neighborhood?
Carolyn Rader | The train horn was terrifying to my youngest child (when we first moved into the neighborhood) through the time she was about 3 years old. It is very startling, especially for young children, and greatly disruptive at night for everyone.

Rick Crawford | Since this Act was approved by the FRA, I have contacted various officials in DeKalb County and have gotten nowhere, just the runaround. This is not suprising to me. I am willing to do whatever it takes for the Frazier Road corridor to become a quiet zone.
patricia rickert | I do not mind the train noise in my backyard as I know how vital it is to our transportation system. I do not think that the loud and LONG horn is necessary for safety. I was so pleased that our government was able to do something about the problem without endangering lives at the crossing.
L. C. Hanson | And how about stopping the trains from STOPPING and sitting at an intersection BLOCKING traffic/Police/Fire/EMS!!!!!
JoEllen Quirouet | There is a railroad crossing at the Frazier location; no horns for the train are needed. Please support this petition. In the 12 years I've lived here it seems the train traffic has significantly increased, and of course, the sound of the horns along with it.

April Allman | Frankly it gets embarrassing to be on the phone on my porch and have to explain to callers that we have to wait until the train goes by to finish the conversation. As well when friends are over and I entertain inside everyone comments on the train noise. I think property values (and tax revenue) would increase if the crossing were changed to make blowing the train whistle unnecessary.
| 37 | John Tienken | This is for the Frazier Road Crossing.

sheryl jennings | As an owner of several properties affected by the train horn in this corridor, I am very spportive of the implementation of the "quiet corridor". Please make this happen! Thank you, Sheryl Jennings

Heather Shuster | Please support quiet for our neighbors. Our intown homes will be that much more wonderful.
Terry L Smith | Residents and voters should have a say in matters which affect their communities and quality of life. enough of big business and corporate america calling the shots and telling our elected officials what is to be done!!!
