After much hard work, my wife and I have a combined income over $100K. We own a home. Our FICO score is at 715. We have two other credit cards each with a fixed interest rate of 7.9% Providian, my oldest card, was briefly at 10.9% but has quietly climbed to 18.9%! When I tried to negotiate a justifiably lower interest rate based on my credit score and immaculate payment history, I was given the classic brush off. "These things are automatically computed and cannot be adjusted by customer request" Garbage! When I asked for a copy of the computational criteria used to calculate my heinous interest rate, they hung up on me! I realised I was dealing with liars and cheats. I've gone into my retirement savings to pay the balance and closed the account. Let's see if they have any other tricks up their sleeves. |

They gave me a higher line of credit, came just in time for my car to need major repairs and I had no choice but to use my card for those repairs. Although I paid ontime, they sent me a letter saying they were not renewing my card and my payments would go through mycardaccount.com. I've paid my bill on time consistantly, but I'm still paying 23% interest. I've written to them twice to lower the rate and I get a generic letter back stating that there is nothing they can do for me at this time. Is this fraud???? |

Lodging complaints online are fine if they make you feel better, but what good is it doing you? It isn't getting you any closer to solving the problem and it could take forever to change things. And if there is legislation to back up their actions and there are powers behind this legislation that don't want it changed..it may be impossible. Has anyone talked to an attorney? Has anyone done anything forceful to stop this treatment? I don't like the idea of filing suit against anyone but I don't like being mistreated either.With as many people as I see here and there must be many more....surely a class action suit would be possible.. |

2nd complaint they sent mail about loan on card, with the amount of my limit I could use. I wrote a check the amount, deposited it, then it was bounced, providian says they only allow 95% of balance, no where it said that, then they charged me $20 for the check THEY REFUSED for a returned check fee. Now I have charges also at my bank. Thanks a lot for nothing.
3rd complaint -- this is the rudest, smart aleck-y people I had had to deal with -- I said cancel my account. YOu get no new $$$ from me. |
