| 101 | ruth | matheny | PA | Our DFA met with Don Morabito and were disappointed in his inabilitly to see our need for a state wide blog.
We NEED an open primary. You should want a hearty discussion.
Give Chuck Pennacchio a chance.
Give US the citizens a chance to speakour wishes.
Forget the big money and endorsement for Casey.. just give Case and Pennacchio lots of chances to debate. and take it from there.
We want real choice not another coronation.
And p.s. don't forget my town meeting idea. I gave it to Don Morabito to give to you. Ge it?

Sincerely,

| 113 | Janice L. | Myers | | This kind of control by political bosses is why I stopped being a committee woman. If you want a revival of grass roots interest in the democratic system, then you have to behave like you really want it!! Where is Howard Dean when you need him? Personally, I will be writing in Barbara Hafer's name on the ballot. |
| 114 | Nancy | Logue | PA | I support Chuck Pellachio as the Democratic candidate to oppose Santorum and hope that we can have a real primary. |
| 115 | Elizabeth | Thomas | PA | We need to use the democratic process to choose a senatorial candidate to run against Santorum. Don't limit our options.
We need to have a candidate we believe in ,in order to have the will to work for him or her.
We need a primary to decide our candidate. He shouldn't be appointed by anyone, he should be elected by the populace. |
| 116 | Brenda | Factor | PA | Ed Rendell and the state Democratic party need to do everything in their power to hold an Open Democratic Primary in 2006 to allow voters to decide for themselves the best candidate to beat Santorum |
| 117 | Mary | Thompson | | [don't forget to change "open" to "real" on this page, too!]
Thanks Ben and Ray! |

| 119 | Joy | Sabl | PA | If I thought Casey were a guaranteed strong campaigner or a shoe-in, I'd probably suck it up, no matter what the issue (and despite my preferences for a real Democratic primary).
Ditto if I thought that primaries intrinsically weaken candidates.
But Casey ran a weak campaign against Rendell in much of the state. I fear he's starting "as strong as he gets" based on (paternal) name recognition, and going downhill from there. I'd like a real primary, to allay that fear, and to guarantee that I'm getting the best candidate possible.
Casey is unappealing to many who did effective GOTV for Kerry--progressives, women, liberals. (And, News Flash: not all Union members or Catholics are guys.) Many effective people say they will work AGAINST Santorum (no matter what) but not FOR Casey (in particular, if he's "annointed" instead of elected in a real primary). I think we all know, by now, that "against one" and "for the other" do not work out to be the same thing. (Declines in Bush's approval rating didn't translate into gains for Kerry.)
I can, in good faith, work all-out for Casey if he turns out to be a great campaigner, and wins a real primary. Otherwise, I can't. Simple as that. |
| 120 | Nicholas | Koury | PA | Please let the PA democrats make their own choice. Casey may be acceptable, and the Primary winner, but I would rather see Barbara Hafer as PA's other senator adding PA to the states having a qualified woman represent them in the US Senate! |

| 127 | Ben | Burrows | PA | The Democratic Party needs to prove that it wants to win the Commonwealth, that it not only aspires to the United States Senate, but to the Pennsylvania Senate; that it not only wants to run housing for the poor, it wants to run for a majority in the House. |
| 128 | Dianne | Shatin | | Dear Ed Rendell,
re: Destroying Democracy
It is the will of the people and the meaning of our vote to select who the Party will endorse in the Pennsylvania Primary 2006. No sleight of hand nor usurpation of Gubanatorial power fools the Democratic Party voters in this great State of Pennsylvania. We will neither tolerate nor allow the termination of the primary process and my doing soon, your endorsement of dictatorial control over our Party. By doing so you have shown terrible judgement and have basically disenfranchised the voters of our State by your autocratic endorsement of one candidate in lieu of a democratically held primary.
Tough tiddlies if it costs too much. That is the fault of yourself and all other media freaks. It would cost nothing for supporters to go door to door for a candidate. Perhaps you folks are just too lazy for democracy. Well then, move aside and go into the private sector and let the people of this State 'speak for themselves.'
You are a terrible embarrassment and a sacrilege on our democratic heritage. |
| 129 | Dianne | Shatin | | Dear Governor:
If elections are too expensive that certainly is your fault and that of the parasitic political consultants and 'election managers'.
That gives you no right to usurp the democratic right of the people of the great State of Pennsylvania to decide who the candidate should be for the Democratic Party by way of the primary election vote.
Of any politician I am shocked that you have abused your executive power to disenfranchise the Democratic Party voters of Pennsylvania.
Hey, hey, ho, ho, time for Ed Rendell to go!!! |

| 140 | vivienne | spector | PA | |
| 141 | Martin | Schor | PA | The grassroots Democratic volunteers of Pennsylvania registered the voters, got out the vote and raised the money that resulted in John Kerry carrying the state in 2004. We put a great deal of work into it and believe that we and the rest of the Democrats of PA deserve to have a voice in selecting our Candidate for the Senate. It could be difficult to motivate us to work as hard for the 2006 Democratic ticket at the State level if we are disenfranchised by being denied our right to a primary election and forced to accept a candidate selected by a small handful of "Party Leaders" in Harrisburg. |
| 142 | Nancy | Downes | PA | A process that bypasses grassroots interest and action can't be call democratic. |
| 143 | David | De Vetter | PA | |
| 144 | bob and kathy | stanley | PA | DEMOCRACTS ARE BECOMING SENSITIVE AND WANT TO MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES. THE DNC SHOULD LOOK FOR PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES AND HOLD ELECTIONS FOR REAL VOTING |
| 145 | nathaniel | Smith | PA | Dems need to register voters now. How can we do that without a primary? |
| 146 | Robin | Stelly | PA | A healthy primary is the best way to find out which candidate has the best chance to beat Santorum. Don't take our right to vote away. |
| 147 | Scott | Moore | PA | |
