Marcy | Morgan | PA |
Lisa | Poe | PA | It is not up to the governor to decide who gets to run for Senate. That is the purpose of a primary. Barbara Hafer should not have been asked not to run.
ed | gans | | Let the Democratic party decide who will beat Santorum.
Michael | Inskeep | PA |

Natalie | Minkovsky | |
Pauline | Sachar | |
Julie | Krug | PA | This is a democracy, so we should keep the primary open, to be determined by the people.
phyllis | purscell | PA |

Janice | Rensi | |
Mardi | Harrison | PA | We've lost the Senate now 12 straight times. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Why can't we try doing something different this time -- like real democracy?
Lori | Ginzberg | PA | Please remember that Pa voters are largely pro-choice -- and those of us worked hard to get the vote out for Kerry WILL NOT do the same for Casey.
Jeffrey | Seeds | PA | The 2006 Senate election is still a long way off. It is completely anti-Democratic for the party to be trying to decide who will oppose Santorum already. That's what the primary is for, especially on a statewide level. Santorum is completely beatable, so the big question is whether the person replacing him will stand for Democratic values. Pennsylvania is NOT Nebraska. We don't need an anti-choice senator.
Michael | Doyle | |
Edwin | Tyrrell | RI |
Rosemary | Rennicke | |
Marcia | Angermann | | I very much want to defeat Santorum, but I want a progressive candidate that I can feel good about supporting.
Kristy | Deischer-Eddy | PA |
James | Anderson | PA | Rick Santorum needs to be replaced but the question of by whom should be more open. I personally favor a moderate such as Joe Hoeffel who ran a credible campaign against Arlen Specter. Bob Casey's anti-abortion position is not what we need right now.
J | Newman | |
Lani | Frank | | The primary is a good opportunity for the nominee to practice debating another candidate, in preparation for the real thing. It doesn't have to be a bloodbath, nor outrageously expensive,if guidelines are established and everyone plays by the rules. I think Hoeffel suffered for lack of a Primary, and I know Rendell was not the "endorsed" party candidate. I can't accept that he is forcing us to accept his "endorsed" choice.
Tim | Evans | PA | Bob Casey Jr. may in fact be the person with the best chance to beat Rick Santorum, but let us have a chance to hear him debate his veiws with other Democratic candidates before we make that decision. An open primary can really only help the Dems, because having several people publicly bashing Santorum for several months of a primary is better than having only one person doing it. Just look at the 2004 Presidential election -- all those candidates consistently criticizing Bush was great publicity and gave Kerry plenty of material to work with once he was selected as the nominee. The same thing could work here in PA. And besides, it's supposed to be Democrats statewide who pick the nominee, not just party "bosses"...that seems so 19th Century.
Phillip | McFadden | |
Patricia | Gallner | |

Patricia | Gallner | |
Eric | Levin | PA |
Elizabeth | McKenty | |
Laurie | Williams | | I am especially distressed that an anti-choice candidate has been endorsed already by Governor Rendell.
| 81 | Rosemary | Evans | PA | more candidates running in the primary = more exposure in the media = the Democratic message is heard by more people more often
(didn't we learn anything from the 2004 presidential primary??) |
Glenavie | Norton | PA |
George Speros | Maniatty, Jr. | PA |
Craig | Rhodes | |
steven | karas | | Let us also remind the Gov we are not happy with slots and property tax reform OR his new philly convention center.
Marlene | Santoyo | PA |
Barbara | Bole | PA | Please, please, please do not let this race be a re-run of the Kerry-Bush tragedy! We need to be empowered with real choice! Trust us to make the decision about who can beat Santorum!
Jefferson | Bole | PA |
lynn | guidetti | | Hoeffel! Hoeffel!!
Kathleen | Quinn | | I am very disappointed that it seems that I will not even get a chance to support a pro-choice candidate in this election.
Judith | Gordon | PA |
john | viarengo | |
Mark | Northacker | PA | Try to remember this: "Of the People, By the People, For the People"
Denise | Glick | PA | Casey does not represent me or the other women in this state who value privacy and the right of self determination with regard to health care! I cannot and will not once again, work for and vote for a candidate who does not represent my own beliefs. Your party politics must stop now, they have proven unsuccessful in the past and will be disastrous for pennsylvania in the future. As a Democratic Committee Person I am disgusted and about to resign from the Democratic Party!
