2 PaulaRogersPAThis is OUR choice, not yours, Gov. Rendell. We hired you to Govern Pennsylvania, not choose our other representatives. So, go balance the budget and let We The People decide who is going to represent us in Washington.

8 RachelFichtenbaumPAI strongly believe that we have seen that focusing on "electability" and polls is not working for the Democratic party. We need a new strategy. We need to return to issues and democracy.

14 AnneAlbrightPAWe need an open primary so the people can decide who will run. Appointing senate candidates cannot be good for our state.
15 BarbaraBlumPAI believe that the Democratic voters, particularly activists, who do the everyday work of working in general elections deserve the chance to make the decision to select the Democrat of their choice in the primary. Party leaders sometimes are not aware of who the "people" want. Also, a clean primary battle brings attention to the Democratic Party. The media will concentrate on us instead of Santorum.

18 GailNewboldPAThere has been significant talk about making Democracy work, in the U.S. recently. A real primary, for Democrats in PA, is an important part keeping we, the voters, intersted in our own government!

23 ChrisRobinsonPAI will never vote for Bob Casey, and I urge the Democratic Party of Pennsylvania to repeal the Casey law that restricts women's freedom to have an abortion. Chris Robinson 431 W. Rittenhouse St. Phila., PA 19144

26 KathleenO'DonnellPAI will not support any anti-choice or anti-lgbtqi candidate. I won't support a economically progressive socially conservative democratic party!

28 WilliamKreiderPADidn't we learn our lesson last year ??? The 'seemingly' strongest candidate is not necessarily the best. Please don't coronate our candidate in smoke-filled rooms---if Bob Casey wants my support (even against an opponent as disgusting as Santorum), I have to hear serious moderation (and some respect for my core issues) from him while at the same time showing that he can retain his alleged personal constituency.
29 JenniferRegerPAThe people should have a voice in the 2006 primary. It is their government too.

33 LynnJaegerPAThere are other options out there besides Bob Casey and Barbara Hafer. I'd certainly appreciate the opportunity to hear from them as well. I am a pro-choice, gay-affirmative, politically and socially active voter - looking for the Democrats to offer me someone to vote for that I can feel good about. I got that this last time around in Josh Shapiro, Allyson Schwartz, and Joe Hoeffel, all of whom I worked my butt off for. A no-choice option of Santorum or Casey is not going to cut it.(Note the recent state-wide poll that indicates that most PA residents do NOT want Roe v Wade obviated!) If you want the energy of the grassroots, you have to let us make up our own minds.

35 JohnMorganPA Chuck Pennacchio is a true progressive who will stand up for all Pennsylvanians in the U.S. Senate. Casey Junior is anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-gun safety, and does not reflect main street American values. Pennacchio does and will get the support of these voters and bring these critical issues to the race, issues Santorum is extremely vulnerable on.
36 jenniferjohnstonPAi don't work on behalf of anti choice canidates. and as the party "heirarchy" hasn't done this state a bit of good, why would you continue it? jennifer johnston

38 StephenGulickPAI would go even further and suggest to Pennsylvania Democrats -- of whom I am one -- that we should work to include third party candidates on primary ballots, too, so many, many voters who are currently turned off will engage electorally.

43 JanisWilliamsPAGovernor Rendell, As a public servant and representative of Pennsylvanian voters, I must ask that you consider the wants of your constituents and allow the Primary process its due course. By either threatening or cojoling Barbara Hafer - I've heard both versions of the story - and getting her to pull her hat out of the ring, you and the Democratic leadership has virtually eliminated the primary process. Preventing an open primary may cause some progressives to run a "spoiler" candidate in the General Election. Keep in mind, the last pro-life Dem to challenge Santorum lost. When the choice is between the Republican who is anti-choice and a Democrat who is anti-choice, all those pro-choice Republican women in the Philadelphia area will vote for the Republican. Thank you for your consideration.
