The petition
While some homeowners fret about the crumbling value of their houses, apartment renters are writing bigger checks to pay for their leases. San Francisco rents alone have skyrocketed over 14% in 2008 and are now the HIGHEST in the nation. The avg. rent is over $2326. We are now facing a serious housing shortage due to the mortgage crunch and a # of other factors!! During this time, landlords are removing/demolishing single units from all housing use and/or merging units into larger single family homes. This is resulting in the loss of affordable housing and impacting our precious supply. Let's do everything we can to preserve the housing supply to the best of our ability and avoid violating Proposition M (passed in 1986: 101.1 Planning Code). Thanks for your support!
