When we are faced with dilemmas of war and rumors of war, we are also faced with the dilemmas of poverty over goods or poverty over consciousness. To some that means to continue and perpetuate the cycle of oppression and to others it is fighting the battle of globalization and the effects it has on our society, our consciousness, and our will to move forward in a capitalistic society. It is therefore evident that to have poverty over goods consist of remaining a prisoner of purchasing name brands items made by children in sweat shops; poverty over consciousness can therefore be defined as being a prisoner of racism, bigotry, and biases that entrap one from enacting their roles of human nature. |
