The petition

We the undersigned, hereby go on record as being residents of Dekalb County, patrons, and/or employees of business establishments that serve alcohol in Dekalb County. By our signatures we express strong opposition to the proposed change to Chapter 4, Article III of the Code of DeKalb County, to reduce the hours that alcohol may be served in DeKalb County, GA. to 2am on weeknights and midnight on Sunday nights. We hereby request the Dekalb County Commissioners TO VOTE NO to the proposed ordinance to roll back the hours for said establishments to serve alcohol by the drink. We further state that we are over the age of 21 years.

-It has not been established that the ordinance as it is currently written has a negative or significant impact on the crime rate.
-It does not allow business owners ample time to adjust to such a drastic change with only six (6) weeks notice (proposed change will be effective 1/1/08).
-Zoning laws need to be revisited and current ordinance needs to be enforced before assuming the current policy is ineffective.
