Online Petition for University of Memphis Visitation Policy Reform

As stated in the University of Memphis polices, section UM1597, the visitation policy's purpose is to "protect residents' right to safety, security and privacy." The current policy fails to uphold this stated purpose and should be reformed. In truth, the current policy is detrimental to this stated goal of the university, and should be revised such that both roommate's rights can be upheld through mutual agreement of visitation hours through roommate agreement contracts. The contracts should be at the sole discretion of the occupants and include the possibility of overnight visitation for the opposite sex.
