The petition

Most New Yorkers cannot choose between mail ordering medication or having a prescription filled by their neighborhood pharmacist. The limitations imposed by PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers)are making it nearly impossible for consumers to have a choice in obtaining their medications. This compromises consumer safety by:
Allowing PBMs to alter prescription information including switching a patient's medication without first notifying the physician.
Denying consumers the face-to-face contact with pharmacists who can answer their dosing and medication questions.
Limiting pharmacists to patient information that enables them to recognize possible drug interactions and allergies.
Exposing medications to weather conditions such as temperature and humidity that can have a negative effect on drugs delivered to mailboxes.
Exposing medications to high levels of radiation used by mail services to protect against biological threats.
What can we do? It is crucial to enact legislation that will guarentee the consumer's right of choice in obtaining prescription medications from their local neighborhood pharmacist or through a mail order drug plan. Therefore, we urge support for the following legislation to be passed:
Consumer's Choice of Pharmacy Act s.3235/Maziarz A. 843/Tokasz and PBM Registration Act s./MaziarzA/Gottfried
