The petition
With this petition, we the undersigned, residents in the Le Sueur-Henderson School District ISD 2397, Minnesota, support the selection of a new principal for Park & Hilltop Elementary Schools to improve the administration, management and culture of our elementary schools.
We believe the current Principal does not serve parents, teachers, staff, or students in a responsive and reasonable manner. Parents, teachers & staff are entitled to thoughtful, considerate and consistent resolution to concerns for students' physical, mental and emotional health, and educational needs at school. Parents, teachers, staff and students should be consulted and participate in efforts to resolve those concerns.
Every attempt has been made to effect positive change within the system by communicating and working directly with Mr. Bjorndahl, however, we feel he has repeatedly failed to respond in a manner consistent with our expectations and has fallen short of his responsibilities to parents, teachers, staff and students. Specifically, he
* has not addressed student safety on the playgrounds
* has ignored the specific needs of individual students
* has failed to inform parents of issues with students at school
* has failed to provide educational professionals trained to meet our expectations for our children (our music teacher cannot even play the piano!)
* has failed to administrate the school with a consistent and responsive serving of our community.
The specific needs of individual students must be incorporated into the teaching methodology used at the school to create and maintain an optimal learning environment for all students. Additionally, he has failed to allocate resources in a manner focused on instituting programming that provides an adequately safe and healthy learning environment for all students. Educational "must haves" come second to fiscal & financial concerns for Mr. Bjorndahl, perhaps reflective of the greater concerns of our district, and as such is an approach unacceptable to us for educating our children.
Mr. Bjorndahl seems determined to stay steadfast in advocating his own pet projects, without concern for the desires of the parents whose children he has been charged with educating. We believe Mr. Bjorndahl is focused on promoting the status quo at the expense of promoting the educational values that we as citizens of this community hold vital.
We believe that this change is necessary and that it will be extremely beneficial to the students of Park and Hilltop Elementary Schools and our educational system.
We as signed below request the removal and replacement of Bill Bjorndahl as School Principal.
