Refunding Pention money to Indians worked in Southkorea

Honorable Minister (Health & welfare),
Republic of Korea.

Greetings from the Indian community legally working in the republic of Korea. This is the online petition filed by the citizens of India who are working here in republic of Korea as legal workers. We hope you will read our petition and take the quick measures to make sure that all the Indians could withdraw their petition money when they go back to their country.

Today we have greater Sociological, economical & industrial connections between Korea & India. Nowadays more than 2000 technically qualified Indians work & live in Korea. Out of which 50% of them related to IT industry. Beside this there is also sizable amount of business people who do import export business. Above this there are hundreds of professors who are invited by various universities across the Korea in the “Brain Pool” category. These all are contributing immensely to Korean economy, IT industry, Biotech Industry as well as in business fields. We all are thankful the Korean government for giving this opportunity to find our potential & to contribute to Korean society & economy.

As you might aware there is a problem related to the “Pension scheme” of employees. The problem is as follows.

1. As per the Korean law all Korean companies & universities ask the Indians to participate in this employee pension scheme.
2. 5 % of the salary will be deducted every month. The employer will also contribute another 5 %. (Totally it will be 10% of salary per month)
3. But as on today there is no bi-lateral agreement with India & Korea to send this money to India after the employee leaves the Korean organization or university.
4. Hence after the employee leaves the organization neither he cannot claim this money nor receive before he leaves Korea.
5. Even if you work one year in Korea this accumulated amount is considerably big as well.

We discussed this matter with Mr. Chattopadhay, an official at the Indian embassy here in Seoul, who is in charge of this matter. As per the information I received during this talk, there was a high level officials meeting (Between India & Korea) last march regarding this matter. Korean side acknowledged that this is the matter to be resolved.
As on today ministry of health & welfare still holding the paper related to this issue. But nothing has been decided.
Since last 3 years the Employee federation office in India (at New Delhi) is also contacting Korean officials in this regard. But as on today nothing resolved.
Hence honorable minister,
We all the Indians legally working in the republic of Korea hereby opening this on-line Petition to highlight this long pending matter. We request you to take this our petition seriously & please take some actions regarding this matter, to get a solution so that all the Indians who participated in the pension scheme could withdraw the accumulated money when they return to India or when they finally leave Korea.

We sincerely hope that you will take positive action in this regard,

Legally working Indian citizens.
