Parking Fine Refunds

The number of fines issued for parking and moving traffic contraventions has escalated out of control to produce a nice little stealth tax of over £1 billion a year.

Councils in pursuit of these rich pickings have become reckless and cavalier in their enforcement and many have shown complete disregard for the law.

Now, in support of this position, the Department for Transport (BBC 29th May 2008) stated that councils should seriously consider refunding motorists wrongly fined.

Parking Appeals.co.uk is leading the way in the fight for refunds for motorists across the country.

With this in mind we have launched a petition which you can sign and pass on to friends and colleagues to sign.

We will then be able to keep everyone who signs fully informed of our successful restitution cases and show how they too can begin the process of getting their money back.

This petition is to the Prime Minister.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure that all local authorities (including Transport for London) refund to motorists all fines that have been issued unlawfully (whether from non-compliant paperwork or unlawful signs and lines) for either parking or moving traffic contraventions.

We further insist that any surplus ‘unlawfully derived income’ should be given to charity (after all efforts to trace the motorist have been exhausted).

Any ‘unjustly enriched’ councils refusing to refund must be investigated.

158 Peter HarryIf I commit an offence to do with road traffic, and I am found out, I am punished. If local authorities commit crimes by ignoring legislation, they get away with it, Why?
159 AnonymousAll this is typical of the greed and the law breaking that the Authorities are and have been guilty of for a long time now in their persecution of the motorist.

164 KhushwantI have been a victim of the unlawful junction box in Ruislip Road, Junction of Mansell Road, Greenford, UB6. I am writing to the Ealing council as the writing of this petition in a hope that I get my refund back. Many of Ealing councils authorised junction boxes have been proved illegal and yet the council has not shown any courtesy to refund the money. If it was I who had not paid the contravention I would have been charged the interest and admin fee and God knows what. !! Is there any justice left in the world. Regards Khushwant Singh

170 Idris FrancisThis country is becoming more totalitarian every day, with the authorities lying, cheating and laying traps for the unwary to maximise income. I am fed up to the back teeth with fearing a jobsworth with a clip-board and sticky bag around every corner - freedom itself is now in peril
171 Helen DashwoodBear in mind that law-abiding citizens are being treated as guilty until proven innocent in relation to these fines.
