| 68 | Anonymous | I won't join PeTa for the very simple reason that they are not an Animal Rights organisation, but 'welfarists', with all the encumbrances upon them for being so. Right is might, and I'm RIGHT to be able to point this out to you.
When you accept that Animals have rights, and are not to be denied by humans, then I shall have the greatest pleasure in joining PeTa. |

I complained so much maybe that's why they finally removed it. On it they had people like Donald Trump. I have a magazine ad of him selling Proctor & Gamble detergent. Martha Stewart was on the list also. I saw her making veal on her tv show.
It's time for people to realize what PETA is all about.$$$ |

| 76 | Tracy Litsey | Please do not compromise anymore, PETA. You have achieved great prominence and if you continue to be co-opted by factory farm intersts it will be a great disservice. I hate the sexually exploitive tone of your material as well. |
| 77 | Derek V. Oatis | I am extremely pessimistic that any form of "welfarism" moves us toward the goal of AR and ending the exploitation of non-humans. I recognize, however, that I may be mistaken and that maybe PETA is pursuing the better course.
However, why not at least be honest and accurate about the difference in these philosophies and strategies? Let us be honest, accurate and respectful of these difference and let all decide for themselves.
Please represent Singer's work and his philosophy accurately. |

| 90 | Kathleen Daschke | I agree completely. Also, giving AWARDS to and calling the human animals HEROES who promote the abuse, torture, and killing of other animals with a little less suffering definitely shows where PETA and these other animal "rights" organizations' priorities are - increasing their wealth and notoriety - to be liked by all human animals, because it shows they really aren't so "off the wall." This will continue to perpetuate the other animals as property of the human animal to be used for whatever commodity of our choosing! Which always involves immense suffering and torture, then death by murder. There are vegetarians/ vegans turning their backs on the animals because now some of them believe the animals are treated well before their murder. By the by, there are many people who proclaim themselves as vegetarians who still eat chicken or fish or whatever whenever "they feel like doing so." VEGETARIAN still means eating solely from the plant kingdom; VEGAN means abolishing the "use" of other animal species as property / commodities. This is why prefixes had to be added to the word vegetarian; such as lacto-ovo vegetarians. Now, NFL star Toy Gonzalez gets in the Wall Street Journal listed as being a Vegan - which first means eating no animals products whatsoever and also stopping the use of other animal products. YET, he eats just a few servings of fish & chicken a week, and includes animal protein drinks! We could give him credit for cutting back and recognizing how unhealthy the average athlete and Amercian's diets are - but don't words have meanings? We changed the meaning of the word vegetarian - now we are changing the meaning of the word vegan!
And these words' meanings have real significance - they involve abolishing the abuse, torture, murder, and property status of innocent animal species.
Have REAL COURAGE - don't back down and let the animals down! The REAL AWARDS and HEROES statues belong to the REAL VEGETARIANS and VEGANS! |

| 98 | Wendy Kobylarz | furthermore, PeTA's frequently juvenile tactics do greater damage to grassroots movements by being the only well-known self-proclaimed "rights" group to the vast majority of Americans. In places like the rural south where even the existence of animal shelters are dubious, getting people to accept and consider veganism is made more difficult by PeTA, which sweeps into conservative towns with half-naked women, spends a day at most, then sweeps back out, leaving any grassroots activists who may live in the area to clean up the mess while still trying to maintain that animal rights is a just and true cause. |
| 99 | John Mayer | I haven’t decided yet whether PeTA does more harm than good, but they’ve alienated me, for one, with their call for a pit bull pogrom. |
| 100 | Andrew Clark | Please don't confuse welfarism and regulation with rights theory. |
