The petition
The Town of Ajax on November 26th 2007 presented to Council a Staff Report that was in my opinion incomplete and inaccurate.
The result was the Majority of Council voted to not give the Citizens the right to take closed meeting complaints to the Office of the Ontario Ombudsman for free.
Citizens will have to pay a fee of $125.00 and if the complaint is legitimate they will get $100.00 back.
The Ontario Ombudsman is FREE $0.00 and accessible to all.
Instead they voted in a Majority (2 voted No) to pay a retainer fee to Local Authority Services which is part of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Using LAS the Town will be subject to daily investigative fees of $1,250.00 per day plus expenses. This can be verified by LAS- AMO.
This is not an arms length relationship and the rights of the citizens are not being taken into account at all.
I request a rebate on my property taxes because I as a citizen only want to contribute to a Open and Transparent local government, why should I give them my money when I have less rights as a citizen then if I lived in other provinces in Canada ?
If they do not give citizens a rebate on their property taxes then they need to overturn the resulting by-law as the vote was in my opinion invalid.

This petition is open to anyone to sign, you do not have to be a citizen of Ajax to sign it.
Ajax is used as an example because I live here, this is happening all over Ontario.
