We the students of Canyon High School petition to adopt an open campus policy for Canyon High School. The reasons for this petition for the adoption of a new campus policy are as follow:
1. Canyon High School students feel that they are responsible enough to make sure to get back on campus before the end of the lunch period.
2. The governing board of canyon high school, under EC 44808.5 may permit high school students to leave the school ground during lunch period and shall not be liable for student conduct or safety.
3. An average open campus High School spends about $5,000 at local restaurants and business every single day. Adopting an open campus policy will boost the local economy.
4. The mission statement of the Nutritional Services which is funded federally states that their mission is to “serve meals that are nutritious, taste good and are well liked by students.” Frankly we, as students of this campus are not happy with the nutritional value and taste of the food along with the outrages prices and the school-wide monopoly. In order to receive a hot meal students of Canyon High School must buy their lunches from the nutritional services. We feel that this is unjust and that this monopoly is another suitable reason for adopting an open campus policy for Canyon High School. |
