GusWebb has the intelligence and rhetoric to keep up with Obama, as well as qualities and appeal that Obama needs by his side.

Jeff RonthiI believe Jim Webb represents the best that America has to offer. As a matter of sheer practicality, he would be the perfect balance to off-set Barack Obama's deficit in Appalachia, as well as BO's lack of foreign service. Please, please, draft this man!
Bruce FreemanAs a former Vietnam era Marine/Navy E-5 corpsman, I have come to the conclusion Jim Webb is the absolute best candidate for Obama's partner. I just sent the following to fellow vets and friends: I just sent the following to all my friends and fellow vets and hope Jim will seriously consider this if approached by Obama: "I have thought this for some time but my conviction has become strong to the point of advocacy for Jim Webb, Dem from Virginia, author ("A Time to Fight"; http://www.amazon.com/Time-Fight-Reclaiming-Fair-America/dp/0767928350) and former Marine and Naval Academy graduate, Vietnam combat vet -- for the vice presidency of the United States of America. (Also author of "Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America" & "Fields of Fire") I hope those that receive this will watch Tim Russert's interview with Webb today or this evening on MSNBC and other NBC affiliates. It is the first 30-minutes of the show. Webb, in my opinion, has got what it takes in evenness of demeanor, temperament, and emotion, intellect, education and experience to make his a good match for Obama, a complimentary figure (Scotch/Irish ancestry with Appalachian background where Obama could use assistance) able to step into the role of president if necessary. Please, those that read this, take time to familiarize yourselves with Webb at some of the following websites: http://webb.senate.gov/ http://www.jimwebb4vp.com/ http://www.bornfighting.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Webb http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90595861 ~BRUCE FREEMAN; PROUD FOUNDER: Veterans Against Torture; PROUD MEMBER; Veterans for Peace, Veterans In Action, Disabled American Veterans, Patriot Guard Riders, Veterans and Military Families Speak Out, Veterans for America, Veterans Defending the Bill of Rights, VoteVets.org, Veterans For Common Sense, Rural Organizing Project; (PROUD SUPPORTER: Gold Star Families for Peace; Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America; Military Academy Graduates Against the War)

Joseph PoindexterJim Webb is *the* man, the man for the job and the man for our times. He must be the running mate. There is no other that can hold a candle to Jim Webb.
AaronCan you imagine a Webb-Romney debate? That's entertainment.

AnonymousI think Senator Jim Webb should be Barack Obama's running mate. Webb's prior military service wiuld make an Obama-Webb ticket a strong one, and could work strongly to Obama's advantages in November. Webb is also a rising star like Senator Obama. Senator Webb appears to be a new kind of politician which resonates well with Senator Obama's message. Finally, Webb's state of Virgina is a battleground state in this election cycle, which could be another advantage for Obama, because Webb being Obama's running mate could bring some Virgina voters onboard for Obama's candidacy.

Timothy A. ReeseJim Webb -- tough, former Republican, metaled, plain spoken, Virginian, Scotch Irish... ideal running mate for Senator Obama. Go Jim Go!
John DeppenJust finished "A Time to Fight" - moving, inspiring, thoughtful. Webb offers what others, including Clinton, do not - an experienced world view shaped by the searing experience of combat and more than a few walks down the halls of power.
David WoodwardChoose Jim Webb, war veteran, former Secretary of the navy, win virginia, anti-Iraq war, anti_bush. Great Choice for VP
AnonymousJim Webb carried VA once, he can do it again!
David HamiltonSenator webb is one of the few real patriots in political office today. An Obama/Webb ticket gives me great hope for a renewed balance and reasoned action in our highest offices.
Peggy ChangI'm virginian and I voted for Webb in 2006! I I'm so proud he's my Senator! Obama/Webb 08!

Glenn AmandolaI totally agree with the above petition in favor of having O'Bama pick Jim Webb as his running mate come the general election in the fall. We all know Webb's opposition to the war, and his very strong military and forghrin policy experience under Ronald Regan as secretery of the Navy. The man sacrificed his own son to go fight in a war he didn't believe in and was against, but to him serving for our coutry like he did is the most important thing an American citizen can do...John McCain will say he's a war hero and a reagen Demacrate, But Reagen put his faith in Webb and made him his scretary of the Navy. Webb also served in Vietman and was a hero just like McCAIN, and was a Navy man...Putting Webb on the ticket with O'Bama takes away all that from McCain, and puts on his ticket a man who is not from the old Washington players being new to the Senate, and also has his own son fighting in Iraq which would be a major plus to show his devotion to the military and country. Overall there is no better VP pick then Webb and I strongly urge O'Bama to put him on the ticket with him. He's from the south and would put a couple of red states on the O'Bama colume come November...Virginia being the biggest, a state the DEMS have not won in a very long time. The time to put Webb on the ticket is now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charles GallowayFrom someone from the Marines and a Virginia resident, this is a great idea, and will bring the military vote as well as Virginia
mary ann broadusor as secretary of state...just give him a prominent position, he's a very good man !! Thanks.
