| 7 | Rachel Osajima | I was born and raised in Oakland. I have chosen to live in Oakland and now raise a family. The arts are an essential part of the Oakland Community. The Cultural Arts and Marketing Department - and specifically the Cultural Arts division, must be supported by the Oakland City Council. Please fund this department and keep our city vibrant and thriving. Oakland resident, Rachel Osajima |

| 34 | DeWitt Cheng | I do art reviews for East Bay Express and other publications. Everyone knows that hard times are ahead for everyone, but Oakland should do its utmost to preserve its vibrant art scene, which, known nationally, adds luster to the city. |

| 37 | Yana Goldfine | It is so important that during difficult times our children have an outlet to express their deepest concerns. We saw just how important it was for children to express themselves after hurricane Katrina. This is not a time to be cutting funds for children expressing their deepest emotions. We must think about this as an investment in our children.
When we look at our local artists these are not people living high on the hog. If anything, they are living close to the bone. Art is the deep voice of our environment and the collective unconscious. This is not the time to cut funding. We must hold on. Please think carefully about cutting this very important Bay Area program.
We must think about this as not spending money, but investing in the future for all of us.
Sincerely
Yana Goldfine
