The OTU is a not-for-profit organization established to create a network of those who have restored their African ethnic and national identities through DNA testing.

I pledge to:

1. Take a DNA test to determine my African ethnic and national identity;

2. Help people of African descent determine their African ethnic and national identities through participation in or support of academic, genealogical, and genetic research to the best of my ability;

3. Participate in the coordination of networking meetings and community workshops where information about African ethnic groups and nations is shared;

4. Participate in the production and dissemination of educational materials on the various African ethnic groups and nations to the best of my ability; and

5. Participate in the coordination of youth exchange programs and intergenerational tours to African and other nations to help members of African ethnic and national groups around the world reestablish links to each other, to the best of my ability.
