The petition

To the members of the 144th Delaware General Assembly:

In 1977 Delaware passed the Freedom of Information Act that required all public bodies in the State to open their deliberations and records to the citizens of Delaware. All, that is, except the General Assembly. More than a generation ago Delaware's State Legislature exempted itself from the Freedom of Information Act and today that outrageous law still stands. It is time for a change. The laws of Delaware need to reflect the mood of the citizenry on this issue. Open Our General Assembly, OOGA! The people who have signed this petition support passage of SB-4 to declare the General Assembly of Delaware a public body under the definitions of FOIA.
