| 203 | Carolyn R. Shaffer | ODOT and county officials might be pleasantly surprised by the mutually beneficial outcomes of negotiating with Sharon Miranda. If Sharon would receive reasonable compensation for the serious impact on her property and property values caused by the tourist complex, ODOT and the county would receive the priceless gift of goodwill plus significant long-run cost savings. It costs money to hold hearings and otherwise deal with citizens' objections to projects. Fair compensation agreed to now would reduce the need to keep pouring money into staff time and public relations efforts related to this issue.
I know Sharon Miranda. She is eminently fair and reasonable in her dealings with people and organizations, and she has dedicated her life to serving the common good.
So take a chance and work with her. Believe me, if she felt that she had been dealt with fairly, she would spread this good news about ODOT and Jackson County far and wide. All parties would benefit. You simply can't buy that kind of goodwill and good publicity. |
