AnonymousODOT's persistence in moving forward in disregarding the needs of the Ashland locals is guaranteed to cause a backlash and flurry of community based resistance. Surely ODOT has more reasonable, mutually beneficial means of achieving its goals?
carola marashido not develop this residential land for ODOT

Mouna WilsonI find it difficult to understand why the location of the previous rest stop would not satisfy the need for autos. There are numerous truck stops in the area where truckers could stop. It would seem financially much less costly both to the taxpayers and to the people whose homes will be impacted by the ODOT plan.

AnonymousIn addition, I don't think Ashland is an appropriate location for a rest area. It's a small town, with some sensitive environmental areas (eg, Lithia Park), that's already getting overloaded with traffic from town expansion and expansion of Medford and other towns. A rest area more removed from Ashland would be more appropriate.

AnonymousI am opposed to the Welcome Center, particularly at that location. It seems unnecessary & fiscally wasteful and destroys environmental Quality of Life and property rights. There are also nearby rest facilities.

AnonymousI am not in favor of this new development. Please reconsider how you will affect the environment and the local residents.
Cathy Mary RashinThis proposed project has had an impact on me personally ,as I have been renting at 488 Crowson and have decided to move because of this disruption.
Linda Foxi am shocked this has gotten as far as it has. Jackson County does not need to destroy this lovely, quiet community, along with the destruction of land values and homeowner's 'rural' dreams just for the sake of the mighty dollar. There are plenty of other sites available, I have no doubt, that has far, far less impact on homeowner's, our sweet community, our animal family, the eco-system, and life in general, than the proposed site. Jackson County will be changing Ashland and it's community forever more...it will never be the same again if this is allowed to take place. Shame.

AnonymousPlease, use the rest area you already have in place, and have more awareness of your community's overall needs. Money is not the sole reason we live here! Thank you.

Louise M. Pare, Ph.D.I support this petition and urge you to reconsider the site for the new Tourist Center. I do not support the creation of this new center which will result in loss of the existing ecosystem as well as great hardship to the current home and land owners.

Robin RoseIn Ashland, recent tradition creates an unspoken rule that people are important: the quality of people's lives, their feelings, how change impacts them. In this case, the planned change does not consider the people effected who must live with a plan that hasnt considered the effects on those who have chosen a beautiful place to live, contribute to the community, and grow old happily. Please consider the needs of the community and its land-owning members before proceeding with this potential mistake. THANK YOU.
