| 1152 | Russell Bennett | Do you not think it is time that our tax dollars start going to what they were meant for? 540 needs to be done and free, the time for pilfering money away from its intended purpose is in the past. Stop playing a shell game with our money!!! |

| 1154 | Anonymous | This seems like it fits the bill as a "shovel ready" infastructure project that Obama is looking for to put people back to work.
We should be preparing to get federal money rather than trying to figure out where to put tolls. |
| 1155 | Anonymous | We already payed a tax for this road to be completed. This is a breach of trust on the governments part. |

| 1158 | Anonymous | There are no tolls anywhere in NC, so why toll on 540 to create Traffic.
Goverment should collect TAX by other mean but not by imposing toll.
I see toll as way of looting innocent people.
Providing good road is federal and State govement responsibilty to use money Federal, State income TAX and Gas TAX.
Please do not impose toll otherwise more and more People will hate goverment. |

| 1166 | Paul Howard | We are used to public roads being free in this area of NC. Adding tolls amounts to nothing more then more taxes. Why not just up existing taxes, it would be much more fair. |

| 1177 | Martha Jamison | No TOLLS! The people in north Raleigh are allowed to enjoy their section of 540 without having to pay tolls. My taxes paid for that section. Why should I have to pay an additional fee to ride on my section of 540? |

| 1185 | Florin Neamtu | If 540 is going to be taxed, then the ENTIRE road should be taxed. Taxing the portion next to RTP & Cary/Apex is completely unfair and a joke. |
| 1186 | Pradeep Gajjar | NCDOT should also be questioned on building roads without any wide outer lanes for bikes - example being 55 which has been recently completed.
It should also be asked about the entry and exit to Davis from 540 - where massive overpasses have been built where these could have been avoided.
NCDOT is a stumbling block when it facilitating the movement of bicycles and pedestrians; creating these alternatives is the only way out to reduce congestion, pollution and dependence on foreign oil. |
| 1187 | Matthew Purvis | Why should we pay tolls when we already pay a gas tax, yearly registrations fees, and license fees. Perhaps our "representatives" should learn to balance the state checkbook. |
| 1188 | Anonymous | No TOLL! |
| 1189 | Edward F. Gehringer | |
| 1190 | David A. Burton | Roads should be funded with gasoline taxes. Toll roads are both economically and environmentally detrimental, because they cause ineffecient use of transportation resources, and increased overall fuel consumption.
(An alternate source of supplemental funding, to speed I-540 construction, could be the Raleigh meals tax, since Raleigh has suffered about as many meals-tax-funded boondoggles as we can stand.) |
