Tolls are put on roads to "help pay to build the road" but rarely, if ever, get converted back into a free road, even after the road has been paid off. After all, if they're making a profit and have a new source of income, why would they ever stop charging?? |
| 1066 | Anonymous | I moved my business, and my wife moved with her telecommuting job to NC -- in large part because we were so fed up with New York taxes and misuse of taxpayer dollars. Please don't follow in their footsteps, and don't even begin to go down that road of "a little toll here, and little new tax there." That is what destroyed NY state for business and families -- and productive, tax-paying people like us see NC as a friendly alternative and continue to help the area blossom. |

I want to know what FED FUNDS helped to build the existing segment. Why is this option never discussed - a toll road option w/o trying the interstate option seems bone headed. It seems only designed to establish a Toll Authority and pay for yet another gov't function. |
