| 1001 | Anonymous | I think it is ludicrous to even CONSIDER a toll road. We are listed as one of the top areas of the country to live...we are growing at a rate that is several times that of the vast majority of the country, we already pay state income taxes, property taxes, etc... and if the exponentially growing tax base cannot sustain us then our government leadership should step up to the plate and make some tough decisions on how money is being spent. They already snuck in the false economy of a state lottery, they are pursuing toll roads...what is next, a fee to simply walk on a NC beach or a tariff on each person in the state when the leaves change color? This is an embarrassment to our state if we cannot manage our finances better than this...and don't even get me started on the waste, fraud and abuse in what is nationally recognized as one of the most corrupt in ineffective DOT's in the country. Our state government makes the handling of Katrina look like a ballet by comparison. |
| 1002 | Rafael Mantilla Montalvo | Please no more taxes to the "rich". RTP employees coming from the East are being specifically target. In their minds, we are wealthy RTP employees who should be funding NCDOT projects. Outrageous! |

| 1004 | Ronald Li | Say no to toll.. The New World Order wants to sell this country off to foreign interests... If they succeeded, we and our grand children will be paying toll / tax to foreign countries who is desperately trying to use their worth less dollars to buy the real assets ie. The I-540 toll... We will be their slaves. |

| 1007 | j crowe | Personally I hate driving in states with tolls and any time there is a toll road I will do whatever I can to avoid it. If they truly try to toll any of our existing roads I hope someone or some group will sue them for the money back. I for one will never drive on a NC toll road as the thought of it nauseates me. I will vote against everyone I can who supported this movement instead of perusing any of the many viable alternatives. |

| 1018 | Jameal Jordon | NO TOLLS IN NORTH CAROLINA, EVER! This is not "up north" & we need to just build this road on time not ahead of schedule & double dip against its citizens. |
| 1019 | Jacsine Jordon | No tolls, not today, not ever. Overhaul the DOT! |
| 1020 | Ken Rabideau | I am sick of the government ramming this crap down our throats. If you are going to toll this road, the entire road should be tolled. Why should our part of 540 be tolled but north Raleigh not? We are already paying higher gas prices because we need to commute!!! IF this goes through and the average Apex, Holly Springs commuter drives 20 miles per day through this area, it will be the equivilent to adding 1.50 per gallon to gas prices..........nice. Just what we need, more taxes more eroding of the american dream... how embarrassing. |
| 1021 | Anonymous | It is Absolutely unfair that a section of 540 paid for and built with previously approved funding funding will be added to the toll system. The relabelling was a scam and cheap timing trick. The representatives and head of NCTA from East Raleigh/Knightdale area made sure his back was covered and their stretch of 540 went in before coming forward with a relabelling plan. His neighbors would have had him for lunch. It's a sickening display of cowardice. |
| 1022 | Boyd Moore | I do not understand why we are being treated this way. NCDOT built the northern, northwestern and eastern legs of 540 without tolls. now they don't have the funds to complete without trying to push a toll road down our throats. If we can't build without toll roads, then just DON'T build the rest of the road OR MAKE the WHOLE 540 a TOLL(I have no problem with that)
By the way, WHY wasn't the new part of 70 east made a toll? After all it's the same principal-moving cars from point A to Point B!!! |
| 1023 | Anonymous | NO TOLL ROADS. WE PAY FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIRS WITH GASOLINE TAXES AND TIRE TAXES. NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY WILL JUST RAID THE HIGHWAY TRUST FUND MORE OFTEN FOR NON-EMERGENCY CAUSES AND FREE ROADS WILL BE CONVERTED TO OBTAIN MORE AND MORE TOLL ROADS.
WE NEED TO PUT TERM LIMITS ON THE NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND GET SOME REGULAR CITIZENS IN OFFICE. I PURPOSE THREE TERMS AS THE LIMIT AND THEY HAVE TO REMAIN OUT OF OFFICE FOR AN EQUAL NUMBER OF YEARS BEFORE QUALIFYING FOR GENERAL ASSEMBLY ELECTED OFFICE. |

| 1025 | Edward T. Baranski | If tolls are start being collected on 540, I won't use it. |
| 1026 | Anonymous | No tolls on 540. I work in RTP and use 540 as a means to get to my job. My salary is not high. Please no tolls. |
| 1027 | Sheldon Reynolds | |
| 1028 | Amanda Moralis | Tolls on existing roads is not the answer. Our tax dollars have already bought this road; we shouldn't have to pay every time we use it as well. Instituting tolls on 540 will create an even heavier burden of congestion on other already-over-traveled roads nearby. |
| 1029 | Shawn Smith | I agree with no tolls on 540. Apex is getting the shaft for no good reason. |
| 1030 | Thomas Kennedy | Please give us taxpayers what we've payed for,No toll sections of I-540. |

| 1035 | Dan Bailey | NO TOLL ROADS IN NC PERIOD.Spend the tax dollars you already have wisely. |
| 1036 | Paul Alluisi | If more money is needed to improved the roads, then the cost should be shared across all who use ALL roads in the triangle (i.e. raise taxes across all). It is not fair to use public money to build all roads in the triangle and only toll one road! Toll all roads or no roads! This needs to be fair. |

| 1041 | Thomas A. Hunt | anyone who votes for the TOLL will be targeted to
lose their job..stop mismanagement of tax money.
Lets not open this pandora's box..we dont need
tolls the gov't steals enough from the workers. |

| 1043 | Anonymous | I am totally against tolls but it looks like it is going to be implemented. We already have one of the highest gas taxes in the nation. If the state knew how to plan and budget, we wouldn't be in this situation. What I don't understand is how you toll 1 portion of I540 and not the rest? As soon as they put the tolls up on the southern end, put it up on the completed northern end as well. How is it right that only a portion be tolled. That is almost as redicuous as spending $170K to go to Italy to encourage tourism to NC. |
