scott zekanis | no tolls....
Tanner Lovelace | Don't penalize the western side of the county!
Rick Burgess | Change the law as needed and make the entire 540 loop a toll
Robert Rousseau |
Randy Stark | Once you have a toll road it wil never go away. They will always find a reason they need the tolls. No tolls please.

James Markham | All or none.
Liana Johnson | I isn't fair to make part of 540 a toll road and not all of it.

cindy reilly | It will cost me $12 a day just to take my kids to school. Will the wake county buses have to pay too? We are slated for panther Creek High and will have to take 540 to get there in a resonable amount of time!

Jim McFetridge | Cut government waste and frivolous spending elsewhere to keep the entire Outer Loop free. Stiffer fines for litterbugs instead, too.

Hassel Stacy | I am strongly against any form of toll road!. Stop robbing our gas tax fund and using it for other areas of the state budget. I will be watching this matter closely and vote accordingly!
Anonymous | The western part of the county should not have to pay a toll when they are already taxed for building roads. These people are the moslty of the lower echleon of the middle class and they have young children, and have to travel to their jobs every day. The gas prices have already reduced their income and they are strugglying to pay their daily bills. They should not be made to pay a toll going to and comiing from work everyday. Who are you people trying to helpanyway?

Carey Denning | I do not agree with having tolls on 540. If there has to be a toll, why not put it in north raleigh on the finished portion of 540 so that the money can be raised to build the section on the west/south side of wake county. Then once this west/south section is finished the tolls should go away from the entire highway.

Ed Schiller | As a 61 year native of this area I am against a toll road. Either make it ALL a toll road or not at all. It's not fair to western Wake county residents.

Jeff | Tolls on all portions of 540
Wm H Shamblin Jr | I am against turning existing roads into toll roads. We have already paid for them, and the gas tax is supposed to maintain them. THAT was the promise when they were built. NEW toll roads are fine with me IF they are paid for solely from the tolls.

Nathan Miller | If they start tolling the road, they won't ever stop. It will just go on forever. Government gets addicted on the taxes and fees it collects. The best way to break the habit is never to start.

Scott B | I grew up in upstate New York, where they built the New York Turnpike with the promise that tolls would be removed when the highway was paid for. The bonds were finally paid off in 1997, and what happened? Yes, the NY State legislature voted to keep the tolls in place! The same thing will happen here; the state gov't couldn't stand to lose a guaranteed revenue source. The best answer is to stop the tolls before they start! You have my vote.
Anonymous | I strrongly agree. Why were the northern and eastern sections of 540 built without any mention of a toll road and now people who will use the southwest section stuck wiht the bill. I am sure the median income of people living closer to the north west loop have a much higher median income. Why is the mayor of Cary strangely silent on this topic? He certainly does not want to slow down the building craze along the 55 corridor.

Neal Smith | The complete project was promised originally. There was no mention of toll roads then and there should not be discussion of it now. One part should not be forced to pay tolls while the other sections don't.

| 40 | Jeffrey D. Watson | I-540 is either *all* toll or no-toll. You can't take some of the taxpayers twice. We dump tea in Boston Harbor over this... we'll do it again.
Make a toll-road, be sure it will be the least traveled road in all of Wake County. I only hope the Legislature can hold responsible those who made the decision and the implementation. |

Anonymous | No tolls! This state is so heavy on taxes! Why can't they alleviate our taxes instead of trying to place more burden on our pockets as it is? Where do all our taxes go?
Jaime McLain | Our government needs to use our tax money more wisely instead of always demanding more.
