| 112 | Anonymous | maumoon abdul gayoom is a tyrant.. a traiter.. and also a dictator.. 30 years he has ruled this country.. and in 30 years we are living as slaves.. our beloved brothers and sisters in the islands have to beg for food.. when all of his family and relatives are living like kings and queens.. 30 years, his family ruled the country.. and in this 30 years if anyone had shown any sign of disapointment and had raised their voice.. gayoom would make it sure he is silenced.. either by a death threat or by ruining their life for good.. this is who he is.. we all hate him! he deserves no nobel prize.. what he deserve is a life sentence in jail.. or death! we all demand order.. we all demand for justice.. justice is gayoom dethroned from power and thrown to jail.. insha allah! justice is right outside our doorsteps |

| 123 | fathimath | the only reason mr gayyom talks about environment in the international forum is for personal glorification. he has failed to impliment any meaningful processes towards protecting the environment. there is not a single island in the country which has a decent sewage treatment plant, as a result the groundwater conditions are appalling. there is no system in place for solid waste management.mr. gayyoom is as insincere in his policies and actions on environmental issues as he is on everything else. it is shameful that organisations such as Oxfam are backing such a person without proper evaluation on the domestic situation. |
| 124 | Sea Horse | There is no denying that Gayyoom has voiced the vulnarabilities of small islands to climate change impacts. This may be to his fame only because he is a smooth talker. He has failed to do anything substantial locally on the protection of the environment. With all the noise he makes on enviromental protection he failed to let alone implementation of the legal obligation that are required nationally under the convention of biological diversity which Maaldives has retified in 1992; but also failed as a the head of state for the past 30 years to sign internationally importatnt environmental conservation treaties such as Convention of Internation Trade of Endangered Species (CITES ) and Convention on Migratory Species (CMS). who ever is involved in this such as Oxfam should also consider what is happening on the political front in the Maldives. |
