BAGOT STREET NO FRILLS BOYCOTT
On Thursday May 17, 2007, Melissa Hurley was picking up some groceries after returning with her youngest child from playgroup. With a stroller in one hand carting an energetic two year old, groceries in the other, she picked up a package of chicken and placed it on her stroller. The security guard followed Melissa from the produce section, and without a word through the checkout line. Melissa paid for the $50.00 worth of groceries, however forgot the chicken that she had placed (in plain view) on the stroller. Instead of pointing out her obvious oversight, Melissa was stopped outside the grocery store, charged with stealing $8.00 worth of chicken and banned from NO FRILLS for an obvious mistake that any of us could have made.
Melissa is a good neighbor and friend and is a regular shopper at NO FRILLS. We find that these charges are outrageous. Making an example out of a young single mother seems to be the only driving force behind these charges. We are asking NO FRILLS to show good faith and drop the charges and ban imposed upon Melissa, and until such time BOYCOTT NO FRILLS, Bagot Street location.
